It's time for Love

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, we had a beautiful sunny 70 degree day here in the south.

I can't believe this year is almost over, that means Valentine's is just around the corner.  I noticed they already have the candy out in the stores.  So I better get moving.

Today I have my first Valentine card inspired by the sketch from My Favorite Things. I decided to go the traditional red, white and black route, with a sprinkle of gold.  I did use foils and glitter though.  I think it works for masculine as well as feminine.

I have a few elements going on here.  First I created a background overly from a DS image shown here:

This image is landscape and I wanted it in portrait.  There wasn't a portrait size so I welded two images together to create a portrait size.

I also widened the edges to allow me to cut the image down to size with my stitched dies.

The middle of the image has a line through it so that is covered by my sentiment strip. My fishtail strip is from a modified image in DS, also.

The letters are cut in DS with the font "Impact", which I sized about 1.75", this was about the size of the heart die I was using.  I cut 4 layers, 3 in black card stock and 1 in black glitter card stock.

The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamps, Thoughtful Messages.  I stamped it in Versamark and used WoW Rich Gold Fine Detail embossing powder.  I applied this with foam tape (AMZ).

I had some foiled red hearts card stock in my stash which I probably picked up ay Michael's when they have a sale.

The arrow came from the MFT Die-Namics Tag Builder Blueprints Set #5.  I cut the arrow in half and then placed it behind the red heart.  These stitched heart dies I picked up cheap on Amazon.  You have a long wait, but for the price you can't beat it.

I liked the first one so much I made a second.  This one is for an anniversary or wedding.
I used an embossing folder on the white layer, then cut the letters from the same silver as the background layer. I used a diamond ring as the "o", instead of the heart.  The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs, Wealth of Wishes and embossed i Ranger Platinum Embossing Powder.

Peace, Love, and Joy this Holiday Season

It's Humor Me Wednesday and I chose to celebrate World Peace/Winter Solstice Day with the cute little image  Christmas Words - Jesus from Bugaboo Stamps.
I did some fussy cutting on this image, and added the OY from my Filled with Joy Card Kit.  My background was embossed with a snowflake embossing folder, then I lighted blended Distress Ink in Stormy Sky.

To keep everything perfectly matched I decided to blend my letters and the background layer with Stormy Sky too.  The back layer is only inked along the edges that show.

The sentiment is also from the card kit, and I used a silver embossing powder on it.

Wishing You Joy this Holiday

Today I have a quick post for my card inspired by the MyFavoriteThings weekly sketch.

This is a quick and simple card.  I had previously stamped a red on red plaid background on some card stock using my C9 Plaid Background stamp.  I cut a 1/2' strip for the side and a sliver of black about 1/8" for the edge of my card.  The background was embossed with a wood plank embossing folder. Using my #MFTstamps Christmas Joy Card kit I die cut my word and stamped my sentiment.

I added a few gold sequins and some gold Nuvo drops.

Holiday Chaos Gift Tag

Today's challenge for the Awkward Holdiday Chaos at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog is Anything But a Card (ABC).

I chose the image Bobblehead Snowman from Bugaboo Stamps.

I fussy cut my little snowman with my Cricut Explore, I create digital dies for all my digital stamps.  I use SCAL5 and have found that the shadow layer of 6 or 7 usually gives me the best results with my Print then Cut feature in Design Space.  This on was cut at with a shadow created at 5, and it is a little skimpy.

I colored my image with alcohol markers, since there really wasn't much to color.  I add a few highlights with my white gel pen.  The bacground is pare of the paper pack.

There is no sentiment on the front, but my to and from is stamped on the back.

Supplies:

We Wish You A Sketchy Christmas

It's the second day of the Christmas Chaos week long event on the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.  Since it's Sunday we have a sketch.

I chose the image Christmas Tree Row from Bugaboo Stamps.

This image is actually a row of trees, but I printed a few and then cut them apart.

I actually created the plaid background card stock with a great stamp set from Concord & 9th.

My images are colored with Prismacolor pencils and I added Nuvo Crystal Drops for the little ornaments.

The sentiment is embossed with white embossing powder.

Let the Holiday Chaos Begin

Today kicks off a week long event on the Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.

To start the week the first challenge is Holy Flurry of Chaos - create a project with some type of snow.  I chose the image Winter Snowman from Bugaboo Stamps.

I blended my sky background using Distress Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass, Blue Sketchpad, and Wilted Violet.  I splattered and sprayed a little water to add some snow flurries, then using some white acrylic paint thinned with water, I splattered more snow flurries.

My snowman was only shaded slightly, then I added some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer for that snow sheen.

I used my hillside border dies to create snowdrifts from white glitter card stock and then used white embossing powder on my sentiment.

I just got a new stamp set from Lawn Fawn, so I couldn't resist the Santa and reindeer flying through the night sky.

And to finish it all off I added some clear sequins.

Be sure to check out the fun-filled week of challenges at Catch the Bug.  Here is a quick list of the week's challenges so you can work ahead.

Christmas Joy

Todays card features Bobblehead Angel from Bugaboo Stamps.

I used the same card stock for my letters as I did for the background layer.  I applied the letters and angel with fun foam so it holds up better in the mail.  The white layer is cut using a scalloped border die.

I stamped my sentiment directly to the card front and used white embossing powder on it.

Bobblehead Christmas Tag

Christmas is getting really close and I need to stock up on tags, so I created a gift tag featuring  Bobblehead Elf by Bugaboo Stamps. I came up with the inspiration for this tag from viewing all the tags on on In My Creative Opinion - 25 Days of Tags 2018

I really love the shaped tags on Day 18, especially the ornament tags by Thi Lam, she made ornament shaped tags.  I used the star shape dies and turned it into a tag.

I cut my tag with Lawn Cuts Christmas trees, 2 layers for the solid tree and 1 layer for the frame. I also cut two stars and tree trunks.

I glued my tree trunk on the middle layer so you can't see where the trunk is glued.  The elf and speech bubble are attached with foam tape.

MFT Sketch Challenge #410

Today I am posting a card I made for the MFT weekly sketch challenge.

As you can see I flipped the sketch a little.  When I saw this sketch I thought of my  Filled with Joy Card Kit from My Favorite Things.  I thought it would be perfect for this sketch.

I choose red glitter card stock for the ornament and a green glitter for the letters.  I had some red and white striped metallic card stock in my stash I had purchased from Michaels eons ago.

I created a textured background with  a Wood Slat Embossing Folder from CTMH.  I added a strip of the striped paper and a thin strip of the green glitter card stock.

I applied the letters with foam tape. and heat embossed the sentiment with Wow Rich Gold embossing powder.  I was going to add some sequins or Nuvo Drops, but for a change I thought the card looked perfect without all the fuss.

Bottle Tag

Today I am featuring Friends Don't Let Friends Wine Alone by Bugaboo Stamps.

I printed my image with my Cricut Explore so I could fussy cut the image.

The sentiment I found on the internet and created a banner file in SCAL5, which I uploaded to Design Space.  Using the PTC feature and my laser printer I printed the sentiment.  I then added black foil to the sentiment using my Minc.

The bottle tag I also created in SCAL5, but could be created directly in Design Space too.

Rock Star

Today's cards were inspired by the weekly sketch challenge at MyFavoriteThings Challenge Blog.

In order for this large star to fit, I had to make a square card that is 5.25" square.  I cut the larges outside in Star stackable in the white.  The star frame fits inside of the outside in star.

I blended Squeezed Lemonade and Salty Ocean around the edges of the white layer.  I blended Squeezed lemonade, Fossizlied Amber and a little Wild Honey on a piece of card stock, then stamped some little stars and added white embossing powder.  I added this behind the white layer so it would show through the cut out star.

The star frame is from a jade colored glitter card stock.  The little stars were cut using some tiny star dies included with the Tag Builder die set.

The girl is colored using my Prismacolor pencils and attached her with foam tape.

Joy Window Pane card

Today I am posting a card I made for the MFT weekly sketch challenge.  This one was a little harder to do than others.

I started by creating a window pane in Design Space, so I could get everything lined up.  Then I cut the frame in white, which I added Nuvo Glitter Gloss to for sheen.

Then I cut the frame out of red and green.  I used some distress inks on the squares, but it didn't hold up well.  I used a box of note cards I had purchased at Hobby Lobby, and they must have some sort of film on them.

These note cards are smaller than a 4.25 x 5.5" card, so I had to cut my card base down to that size to fit the matching envelopes.

I die cut out the word JOY from both colors and added the Nuvo Glitter Gloss to these as well.  I used a white glitter card stock for my snowflakes.  I scattered a few clear sequins around for a little interest.

I have been enjoying the Filled with Joy Card Kit I was able to purchase with my free gift card.  I actually was randomly selected a few weeks ago from a previous sketch challenge.

Halloween Bat with Lawn Fawn Woodland Critters Huggers

Today I wanted to share this cute little gift card holder I created.  I was inspired by Lawn Fawn's Tiny Gift Box Bat add-on.

I pulled out my LF Woodland Critter Hugger die set and decided all I really needed was some bat wings and teeth.  So I went to Design Space and found this bat image.  I had to do a little slicing and welding, but I created a set of add-on bat wings.

I cut my hugger out of a dark gray card stock and then sliced off the arms.  The nose is part of the hugger die set, I just cut off the mouth portion of the die cut image.

I wanted to use glitter card stock for the wings, but it is only on one side, so cutting two and gluing them together was a bit bulky.

Before attaching my wings, I used a stylus and foam board to add some embossed details on the wings.  Then using my Prismacolor pencils I colored a little shading and highlights.

I attached my wings to the back of my hugger and then attached the gift card pocket on top, so you couldn't see the wings.

I also used the mouth and teeth from this image.

I have a great little tip, I used Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue (can be purchased at local Wal-Mart or craft store) and added a dot to each of the wing tips on the inside.  I let the glue dry, and this creates a removable glue dot.  This allowed me to place the wings where I wanted them and the glue held them in place, and could be opened without ruining the wings.  I had to add a little scotch tape to the sucker to hold it in place.

Having a Cricut Explore and Design Space is a great addition to the craft room.  It allows you to use your dies in a whole new way.

I hope you enjoyed this great project and will stop by again.

Till next time,

Happy Craftin!

Cute Puppy Pile - Bugaboo Stamps New Release

Hello, today I am featuring this weeks new release at Bugaboo Stamps.

I printed my image a little large so it would be the major focus on my card.  I did a simple embossing on the white layer, with a striped embossing folder.

I colored my image with my Prismacolors, I use Gamsol for blending.  I chose to make all my puppies the same color.

My sentiment was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I used 3 images Bobblehead Santa, Bobblehead Mrs. Claus, and Bobblehead Reindeer.  I used the PTC feature in Design Space and printed the images on ornaments.  I didn't have any buttons that worked, but I did have these cute little star brads, so they are my substitution for buttons.

The merry was cut from red glitter card stock, I created this image with a system font in SCAL5 and uploaded it to my image library.

Let's Celebrate "Talk Like a Pirate"

Ahoy Maties!

It's time for another Humor Me Wednesday project and if you can believe it there is a  "Talk Like a Pirate Day", which is also today the 19th.  I happened to look it up on the internet and it looks like this is definitely a big deal in some places.  So here is me card, you scurvy dogs.  I am featuring AKV Pirate Treasure from Bugaboo Stamps.

I kept the card simple, and used printed card stock. I added a few colored sequins around the treasure chest, which is overflowing with booty.  I would have added a few empty wine bottles, but this is for the kiddos and not the Captain Jack Sparrow fans.  If you have someone with a birthday on Sept 19th, surprise them with a pirate card.

MFT 2018 Card Design Superstar Contest

The other day I posted my CAS (Clean and Simple) card entry.  Today's I am showing my Innovative Master entry.  All entries have to used MFT product only, with the exception of inks and paper.  I think some of the tools like embossing folders and embossing powder from other companies are ok, at least I hope they are, I used an embossing folder on one of my cards. Any way, you certainly can't win if you don't try, so I thought it is a long shot, but here goes.

Here is what I came up with.

Here is the outside of my card, pretty simple right.  I don't have MFT's cloud stencil, but I do have the Stitched Cloud edge dies, so I used that to make a stencil.  The cloud edge die has stitching on both sides of the cut, so I used the other side as a  layer for the bottom portion of my card.

I cut a tiny little slit on the dragons arms so I could slide the candle in, so he looks like he is carrying the candle.  I attached everything with foam tape to add dimension.  I decided to leave the sequins off, since I could use some masculine cards.

Drum roll please,

As you can see my images all pop-up when the card opens.  I cut little pop-up on another piece of card stock that measured 8x5".  I placed score lines in the center of the brackets and where they attached to the card.  I cut the two sides so the would pop out.  As you can see I made my pop-ups different sizes.   My first pop-out was about 1.25" deep and the others were only 1" deep, so I have two layers.

I placed the candles around randomly and stamped my sentiment on the card layer.  My little dragon on the front flew in a whole bunch of candles.

Supplies:
MFT Die-Namics Stitched Clouds
MFT Die-Namics Outside and In Stitched Cloud Edges

Here is my entry for the Coloring Virtuoso contest.  I didn't create a blog post, I just added it tomy Pinterest board.  Here it is.
This card used the MFT Die-Namics Outside and In Stitched Ovals and MFT Wildflowers stamp set.  The sentiment is from MFT All About You stamp set. I used the masking technique to create my bouquet of wildflowers.  I cut around some of the flower and leaves so they would fall outside the oval.

Stella Says Sketch 9/16/18

Today's card features Gus Fishing from Bugaboo Stamps.

Have you ever had this amazing idea in your head, but when you apply it, it just doesn't pan out.  Well this card was one.  I thought by making my backgrounds clouds and sun, I could hold true to the sketch.
Not by best work.  Oh well, it's done.

I split the sentiment into two parts, and printed it with my laser printer and added black foil.

I created my backgrounds using cut out clouds and a sun stencil, both of which I cut out with my Cricut Explore.

The water layer was cut with my Lawn Fawn Stitched Waves, I cut it into three pieces and glued it to a piece of card stock, then used foam tape to pop up the water layer.

Sentiment on the inside says "Teach a man to fish, and he'lllsit in the boat and drinking beer all day".  This image is perfect for the fishermen in your life.

CAS It Card Challenge

I tried to think out of the box a little for my card submission in the CAS challenge at MFT Stamps 2018 Superstar Card Design.  This is really one of my most difficult things to do, I just have a really hard time leaving white space.  I see so many beautiful cards on the internet, but I am never happy with my results, I think this one made the grade.

First I had to create my background, so I looked at my color wheel and picked three complimentary colors.  I used Distress Oxide inks in Salty Ocean, Spiced Marmalade and Twisted Citron.  I used water color card stock and just randomly applied color

I pictured this in my mind and thought how easy is this, well I got a little confused, on my first attempt.  So I had to re-think it, but the first try definitely made me realize there had to be a better way.   My second try was just human error, I forgot to put my cutting plate on top of my paper, now I have a bent cutting die.  I ran it through the machine a few times, and it straitened out some.

The 3rd try worked like a charm.  I do have one little tidbit, watch the placement of your die over the diagonal cut.  I had some really tiny pieces that were very difficult to handle.  Also, apply scotch tape on the back, for the seam and wherever the die is going to be cutting.  This will help your pieces stay together.

Once I cut it properly it was nothing to make.  I did, however, have to run my die through twice, the tape didn't cut through.  After cutting the first layer, I then placed it on top of the second card layer, this allowed me to position my die in the exact same spot.  Now everything will match properly.

I wanted a little dimension, so I cut the word die out of plain white and layered my letters, before placing them in the negative space.  The inside of the letters is only 1 layer.  This added a very little amount of dimension, you could add more layers, if you want it to stand out more.

As you can see you get two for one cards.

My background was created with Distress Oxide in Salty Ocean, Spiced Marmalade and Twisted Citron.  I used water color card stock and just randomly applied color

Just a few Nuvo Crystal drops in Dandelion and it's finished.  I think they came out pretty good.

Bugaboo Freebie Friday

Today's Friday and it's time for another freebie.

This cute little image is great for teacher appreciation week, or just for thanking these wonderful folks for the work they do, shaping those little minds.  They are also perfect for bookmarks.

I pulled out my new Lawn Cuts Stitched Apples to create my card base.  I cut two from cream card stock.  I added a score line to one of these pieces at 1/2" from the top of the apple.    I taped them together to create the card base.

I then cut 1 red apple and applied the stem and leaves.  This was glued to the top of the card base, sandwiching the stem and leaves between them.

I heat embossed my sentiment and applied white embossing powder.  I used my Spectrum Noir markers to color the image.

MFT Sketch #402

Here is my card for this weeks challenge at My Favorite Things.

I love this adorable stamp set from My Favorite Things.  It was part of this months new release.  They are simple and easy to color.

The background was created by blending my Distress Oxide ink, then adding a few splatters in the blue ink and some black acrylic paint.

The sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder.  My favorite brand in the Wow Fine detail powder, it gives a much crisper image. I attached the sentiment strip with foam tape for some dimension.

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #401

Today's cards were inspired by the weekly sketch challenge at MyFavoriteThings Challenge Blog.

For my first card I cut out two ornaments in Design Space (Cartridge: Quilted Ornaments). Instead of using card stock as a layer, I decided to use glitter vinyl.

For the background, I added a very light coat of Distress Oxide ink in Fossilized Amber, and splattered some gold ink.

I applied the inside of the design to the larger ornament. On the smaller one, the cut was a little bit more intricate and some of the pieces came out while cutting, so I removed the design and applied the outer portion of the design. The smaller ornament was attached using foam tape.

I stamped my sentiment in MFT Ink - Cherry Crisp and added clear embossing powder.

Cutting Dies:

Stamps:

Other Supplies:

The Paper Studios Heavyweight (HL) - card base

My second card, I already posted to my Pinterest board, but thought I would add on this post.

I used Distress Oxides in Blueprint Sketch, Stormy Sky, and Tumbled Glass for the background.

I stamped my sentiment with Versamark and applied gold embossing powder.

I colored my little village with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and applied Nuvo Glitter drops in White Blizzard on the rooftops.
