Bugaboo Oldie But Goodie - Christmas Tag

Today is Thursday and that means it time for an oldie but goodie.  .  Here is a gift tag using my favorite little penguin "Poppi", which you can get at the Bugaboo Store.

I cut my tag at 3.5", this image is one created myself, but there are tons of tags in Design Space you can use.

I used Distress Ink in Salty Ocean and added the blue background, being very careful not to color Poppi, since he was already printed on the tag.

I used a Sharpie Paint pen and gel pen for snowfall, and Wink of Stella in white for the snow.

I am entering this little guy in #25daysoftags2017.  I was inspired by Tracy Mcnealy on Day 10.  I loved the inked background.  It takes a plain white tag to something special.

Reindeer Gift Tag

I can't believe the holidays are already upon us.  I'm sure you are getting busy planning your holiday meal.  Next week we will have to start thinking about Christmas, so with that in mind, I made a tag today.

I have been getting so much inspiration from  #25daysofchristmastags.  This tag was inspired by Brianna on Day 13.   There are so many it's really hard to chose any favorites.

I am featuring Reindeer Peeker on my tag.  As you can see, there isn't really anything fancy, just a few layers and sequins.

Christmas Tag Bingo

I have been making tags lately to enter in 25 Days of Tags.  Today I am featuring this cute little guy, "Bobblehead Christmas Elf" from Bugaboo Stamps.

I chose the left to right diagonal line  sentiment, embossing and sparkle for my Bingo entry. I used glitter card stock to cut out the word Merry, plus I added some Wink of Stella to the bell on the end of his hat.  The "Christmas" sentiment was stamped then embossed with Ranger Embossing powder in "Fired Brick".  I used my Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Borders on the bottom edge.

I was inspired by Tracey McNeely's tag on Day 12.  Be sure to check out all the tags, there is so much inspiration.

O Christmas Tree

Here are a few cards I made to send to the Caring Hearts Card Drive 2017.  This is a great cause to show some love to the elderly.  If you want to know more check out #caringheartscarddrive.

I cut out 4 christmas trees with my Cricut Explore, then I created 4 different cards.  On two of my trees I used AG Holly Berries Embossing Folder then added some ink accents with my Distress Inks.

The other two I add lights and used my Nuvo Glitter Drops to create the little light bulb.

These were quick and easy to put together, so you can do them in bulk.

Poppi Penguin Gift Card

Hey there, hope you had a great weekend.  Today is Monday, so that means lets make anything but a card.

I am getting my gift cards started and have been getting tons of inspiration from #25daysofchristmastags.  This tag was inspired by Day 6 - Laura Pryor's tag.  There are so many it's really hard to chose any favorites.

I am featuring Poppi Xmas Snowballs.  I decided to make a cute little shaker card.  I cut my tag out with my Cricut Explore, then used stitched circles to cut out the window.

I layered some white fun foam between the two tags and added a few sequins and snow glitter inside. I did use a little Broken China Distress Oxide ink on the back tag to add a little color behind the shaeker.

I then cut out a stitched oval and cut into pieces to layer on the bottom for a snow drift effect.

I colored Poppi with my Distress Inks and Distress Markers, plus my Prismacolor pencils.

Your out of this World

Not sure what happened here, but this post got deleted from my blog.

This cute little guy is "AKV Astronaut Rocket 2", located in the Bugaboo Store.

I used distress inks (Seedless Preserves, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire) for the background, first I stamped some stars and used clear heat embossing powder.

I added Glossy Accents over the face, it looks like he actually has an astronaut  helmet on.

Partial Die Cut with the Cricut Explore

Here are a few cards I put together to send to the Caring Hearts Card Drive 2017.  This card drive is to collect cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes.  If you want to get involved, there is more information here.   Unfortunately, I will be keeping these for myself, I failed to review the instructions before I made these and they are the wrong size.  Oh well, I'll have to design some others.  I already have about 10 ready to go, just need to get them in the mail.

Today's card features a partial cut using an image in Design Space instead of a cutting die.  For this card  used the Holly Wreath Image #M418A60 from the Close to My Heart (CTMH) Artistry Cartridge.  I'm not sure, but this cartridge may not be available any more.  I know they retired several of their cartridges.

I sized my image and card panel to fit my 5.25" square card base.  I also made my layer 5.25", because I needed the wreath large enough for my sentiment to be seen.

Look at the image and you can see where I placed my image to slice.  After slicing you will have two pieces that are sliced.  Keep one and discard the other.  Using the contour feature remove the pieces you don't want to cut.

I removed the center piece and a small leaf piece as shown here.

Then you place the image back in place and weld it to the card layer. (Top right image above.)

The finished image looks like the bottom right image shown above.  Now once you place the wreath back in place your cutting file looks like this.

You can do this with any image of your choice.  I just wanted a wreath frame for my card.  If my instructions aren't clear enough you can find numerous videos on how to slice and weld on You tube.

I cut a piece of fun foam out about 1/4" smaller than the panel and then cut a circle out the center.  This was glued to my panel, then to my card to add dimension.  I used Nuvo Crystal drops in red to all the little circle areas.

The sentiment is from MFT Stamps, Handwritten Holiday.  I stamped it with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

Thanks for stopping by, and till next time.

Stamped striped background paper

Today I am taking a break from coloring my digital stamps.  I pulled out one of the monthly card kits I purchased from Simon Says.  Since I have a few birthdays coming up I need to create something other than Christmas cards.  Here is the one I made for my hubby.

I created the background with the stamp set "Brushstroke Messages" included in the October 2017 Card Kit.  I used the two stripes,  the larger stripe I inked with "Outdoor Denim (dark blue or navy blue)" by CTMH.  The smaller stripes are heat embossed with Copper embossing powder.  I used a dark blue HD card stock for the card base from Paper Studios.  The sentiments are from 2 different stamp sets, the "Just wanted to Say" is from the Brushstroke Messages set and the Happy Birthday is an expired stamp from CTMH.

The Misti is the perfect tool for creating background patterns.  I am going to start making more of my backgrounds, they coordinate so much better.

I used vellum for my top layer so I wouldn't hide my background.  I need to figure out what type of tape works best for vellum, I can see it through the vellum.  I used "Hello Wedding" font to create the word husban, this was a free font of the week at Fontbundles awhile back.  I cut it out twice, once out of a thick white card stock and once from foiled copper card stock to add dimension.  Then I stamped the little heart on the vellum and heat embossed with copper embossing powder.

"Ewe" Rock

Hi everyone, hope this finds you having a great week.  Today's freebie at the Bugaboo Store is this cute little guy.

I saw this adorable circle word dies on Pinterest, so I decided to create one myself.  I used Sure Cuts a Lot to get my letters around a circle and then re-arranged and positioned them.  Now I can upload them into Design Space and make them any size I want.  I do find if I cut them below 3" I need to set my Explore to "Intricate Cuts".  My image has a solid center, so I used my Inside/Out Circle Dies from #myfavoritethings to cut a stitched circle out.  Then I used the same die to cut out my image.  Now my center image is inlaid in the outer circle , so I have double stitching.  I placed both cut outs on my card and then used my Stitched Rectangles Set #1 to cut the entire panel.

I added Glossy Accents on the sunglasses and a few silver sequins with a little silver stickies in the center.

The layout was inspired by Stella Says Sketch #517.  This is a bi-weekly sketch challenge, and you can enter up to 3 times.  If you use a Bugaboo Image, you could WIN 10, 7 or 4 Bugaboo Images of your choice.  If you NEED a Bugaboo Stamp to use, head on over to the store and get this weeks Friday Freebie!  Of course a Bugaboo image isn't necessary and you'll still be eligible for 7 or 4 Bugaboo Stamps Images of your choice if you’re one of our winners! All entries must be new and follow the sketch.  Due to the Bugaboo Stamps holiday vacation, we're giving you until 6 am Sunday November 5, 2017 to join the sketchy fun.

Thanks for Everything

We are getting close to the big holiday season, and time to show our gratitude to family and friends for all they do.

Today's new release at the Bugaboo Store is an adorable Thanksgiving image of 6 blocks.  All new releases are 50% off for the week.

I decided to do my little magic and change it up, so I cropped all the blocks individually.  Here is what I decided to use.

The leaves were colored with Prismacolors as follows, then blended with the Prismacolor blending pen:

Orange (from light to dark) 1002, 918,922, 923
Purple (from light to dark) 994,995,1009

I only used the Thanks block and added "for everything" included in the Simon Says Stamp (#Simonsaysstamp) set You Matter (SSS101645).

The papers are from a retired CTMH paper pack "Sangria".  As always, a little bling, with the gold foil washi tape and sequins.

Give Thanks

It's Friday and time for another Friday Freebie from Bugaboo Stamps.  Today you get this adorable little "Sitting Scarecrow".

If you are looking for a cute little fall image this is it.  I think he is perfect for dropping a hello to friends and family during the Thanksgiving season.

The "wooden bench" is also, available at Bugaboo Stamps separately.  I cut both images out with Print then Cut (PTC) on my Cricut Explore.  He looks like he is sitting on the bench.  I colored with my Spectrum Noir Markers, I am still trying to get the hang of shading with these.

I used my Clarity brushes to create the subtle background.  The sentiment is CTMH #D1550 "Happy Autumn", from my days as a consultant.

Challenges:

Cupcake Kind of Day

Today's inspiration is "ABC" Anything But A Card.  I needed a cupcake box to share my cupcakes, so I found this great little tag "Cupcake Circle Tag", with a great sentiment, "It's a cupcake kind of day".

I cut my cupcake box on my Cricut Explore using an image from the cartridge "Sweet Tooth Boxes".

The original box is not really deep enough for my cupcakes, so I added some depth to the bottom portion of the box using the welding feature.  If you try to just re-size the box, it will only make the bottom larger, not deeper.   The top  requires a slight adjustment to make it fit more snug, but thats my preference.

I prefer to change decorations on my boxes, so I used the contour feature to remove the center cut out.  Now I just insert and attach the shape I want cut out before I cut it out.  This particular box, I used a 3.5" square and created a frame to fit around the window.  I attach the acrylic window to the frame and then, tape this to the top of the box.  That keeps the top looking finished inside and out.

I cut my cupcake tag with my Cuttlebug and #MFT Inside/Out Stitched Dies and Spellbinders scallop circles.  But, you could upload the digital stamp and flatten it on any shape you prefer.

I always have trouble getting the frame centered on the top of the box, so I have a little tip.  Before you put the top together, while it is flat, mark the center of the window on all 4 sides.  Be sure to use a light pencil mark, you want to erase it later.  Now mark centers on the frame on all 4 sides.  Place your frame on the top of the box using the pencil lines, hold it in place, and put a piece of Post-It Tape along the bottom of the frame to hold it in place.  Once you are satisfied with the placement, flip the frame over, towards you, and add tape or glue, your preference, to the top of the box.  Flip the frame back in place and press it down to hold.  Now it should be perfectly centered.  This is the same method (hinged) I use the  center my frame to the top and apply Post It tape to the bottom.  I flip the frame over and put my  to apply vinyl to glass.

Finish it off with a little twine or ribbon and you have a cute little box.  This box is also perfect for gifting Christmas ornaments.

Inlaid background scene with Cricut Explore & Dies featuring Bugaboo Stamps

Today's card is for the Catch the Bug Challenge Bingo.  I chose Distress, Player's Choice and Die or punch cut.  I am featuring this weeks freebi,  AKV Pirate Treasure on this cute little card.  I am really happy how it came out.

I have to mail this card, so I didn't want too many layers, so I used an inlaid technique.  Instead of using die cuts, I used Design Space images.  With the slice feature you can also get that inlaid look.  I linked to one of my favorite designers, but there are tons of videos out there.

First I found a sand beach image in DS for my bottom layer, unfortunately this is part of Everyday Paperdolls and is not included in the monthly access package.  ItI had to be re-sized and sliced to fit my card layer.    Then I added a rectangle for the water and sliced the sand beach from the blue rectangle, as shown below.

I cut this blue layer with my Cricut Explore, then to create the wave layers,  I used my MFT stitched scallops .  Just turn them upside down and stagger them to cut your layers.

The palm tree is also a DS image and is included in the monthly subscription.  I found this great little tool, Inkssentials Craft Nib holder, it allows you to use your ink pads like markers.  That's how I added all the little details on the tree.

I used distress inks in Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean for the the water, and Brushed Cordoroy and Gathered Twigs, Vintage Photo for the sand and tree.  On the leaves I used Peeled Paint and Bundled Sage.

I used MFT Stitched Rectangles , to cut my layers.  These two sets are perfect for your card layers, best investment I have ever made.

As usual, I created an electronic die for my digital image and then used PTC in DS to cut my image.

Hope you enjoyed my card today.

Going Braless

Today is Humor Me Wednesday, so that means selecting something to celebrate.  I chose Bra Day.  It seems we have a day set aside for just about everything.  Lucky for me Bugaboo just offered the perfect image as a freebie a few weeks ago, "Stella Peeker Braless".

I did a fussy cut on the image, then uploaded the sentiment into DS.  I have a striped background, which, I used the contour feature to hide one of the openings.  This gave me a larger place for my sentiment.  I flattened the sentiment to the background and used PC to cut it out.

It's a very simple and clean design, but as usual I had to add a little bling.

If you haven't checked out the New Releases at Bugaboo's New Store what are you waiting for, they're gorgeous AND they are 50% off for the entire week!

Stella Says Sketch

Today’s card features “Winter Cat” from the Bugaboo Store.  This image was a new release this week, and it is still available for 50% off.

My design is inspired by Stella Says Sketch challenge for this week.  I used SCAL 4 to create my “MERRY” sentiment so I could create some shadows and layers.

I used a little post it note, to mask my card so I could stamp only “Christmas” with a Merry Christmas stamp I have on hand.  I was really happy how it turned out.

Penguin Snow Globe

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my latest card.  I recently purchased some Dome shaped shaker pouches from My Favorite Things, so I have been itching to make a shaker card.

I used DS to cut the window on my card front.  I had to weld a rectangle to the bottom of a half circle to get the shape just right.

I used the "Winter Penguin Trio" digital image available at the Bugaboo Store.  I used some sequins and diamond dust glitter for the snow.  I applied some Nuvo Crystal Dots in White Blizzard.  I probably should have used red, the white barely shows up.
