I {Heart} Sketch #153 with a twist

It's time for those Father's day cards, so I chose to follow that theme for todays card.

Here is Hamlet Pigwit himself,  this image is from "Hamlet Pigwit in the Rough" and the sentiment is from  "Hamlet Pigwit Tee it Up".  These two stamp sets are interchangeable and perfect for those golf enthusiasts in your life, I just love Pigwit.

I used my go to paper kit "Getaway" from Echo Park, I purchased from Hobby Lobby for 50% off.  This is a great pack for creating male inspired cards.  I have a few male birthday cards to make and of course I will be featuring Hamlet Pigwit again.

I added the Enamel Triangles in green from CTMH.

It's amazing that with the internet, we now have friends and followers all over the world.  It has really opened up our crafting experiences, there are amazing crafters and designers out there that share their work with us.  They also seem to love a challenge in the UK, it seems most of the challenges I enter is from there.

Send a Smile

Hi Everyone,

I am excited to share a challenge with you that means so much more than just making a card.  I stumbled across this challenge from another persons blog from the Mojo Monday entries, "Send A Smile 4 Kids"  This is a wonderful idea and has extra rewards,  you get to bring a smile to the face of a child who is suffering with an illness.   All cards donated will be distributed to the Children's Hospital in different areas.   It isn't mandatory to send your cards in to be distributed, but I can't think of any other reward than to share my handmade cards with a child who already has too much suffering in their young life.  Please check out the blog if you enjoy entering challenges and have been looking for a more rewarding one.

Cards can be for the children themselves or for them to give their caretakers and family members.  I will be making a lot more cards from other challenges to share with these kids.  So please think about joining this group and sharing your cards with those little folks who need a little TLC.

Here is my first card I made for "Send A Smile 4 Kids", this challenge is "Bright Colors 4 Kids".  I chose to make a Thank you card for some child to give to one of those special nurses that help out.

Here are the other challenges entered with this card:

I {heart} Sketch #152

I have really enjoyed creating from  the sketches at "From the Heart Stamps".  The twist on this week's sketch #fths 152 ,  is to crop one of the stamp images and use it.   I chose the cupcake from "Hamlet PigWit Pig Out" stamp set.

As you can see I used the cupcake on the right, that was all by itself.

I printed the sentiment on a piece of printed card stock, I purchased this card stock from Tuesday Morning.  The peach print is the back side of the flowered piece.  I add a pretty green from my American Crafts Summer collection.  I decided to emboss the background after I had already attached the middle layer, so I place just those portions in the embossing folder and embossed both the top and the bottom.

I added a little Wink of Stella on the icing, then topped it with a few rhinestones.  It's really hard to tell in the picture, but the strips are actually Silver Foil Washi tape from CTMH.

Thanks for stopping by, till next time,

Mojo Monday #448

This weeks card for Mojo Monday Sketch, #mojo448 uses Designer Papers from Kaisercraft "Secret Garden".  I created a die cut for my Rose stamp (S1601 Beloved Bouquet - CTMH Stamp of the Month) and colored it with my Prismacolor blendable pencils.  The sentiment is also from this stamp set.

I really love the soft hues of blue and rose pink.  I added a few pink pearls for a little bling.

Thanks for stopping by, till next time.

Baby Card

Here is a baby card I made that was inspired by 3 different challenges.

The sketch is "Atlantic Hearts" #AHS 159.
Colors: "Color Throwdown" #CTD 392
Theme: "Baby" #H2H Baby Love

The colors were perfect for a baby boy card, even though I used different shades.  I added embossing and distressing to add some textures.  The sentiment is from Winnie the Pooh, I made it using SCAL 4 and then did a PTC on my Cricut Explore.   I love all the Disney quotes, they are so inspirational.

Supplies Used:
CTMH Card Stock - Crystal Blue, Whisper, Desert Sand
CTMH My Reflections - Penelope
CTMH Thick Twine - Whisper
Paper Studios HD Card Stock - White
CTMH Mini Stapler and staples

Cricut Images:
Circle Doily - Edge to Edge Cartridge #M3CB4B
Baby - Bridal & Baby Soiree (AG) #MC7586 (used Hide Contour to remove tag circle)
Oval - Free images

Mr&Mrs Wedding Card

This card was inspired by 2 challenges.  It is a super simple card.  The background layer and sentiment (Vinyl) was cut with my Cricut Explore.  I added the dove's from the Dove Cascade Card from Dreaming Tree.  A little bling goes a long way, I added some pearls around the edges and as the period for the Mr & Mrs.

Supplies used:
White & Black Card Stock by Paper Studios (Hobby Lobby)
Pearls (Hobby Lobby)

Freshly Made Sketch - #FMS236

This is a Tigger-ific day!  This week's sketch at "Freshly Made Sketches" #FMS236 seemed perfect to make that Tigger card I have been wanting to make.

You always need a stash of kid's birthday cards.

Tigger can be found on the Pooh & Friends cartridge. I cut him at about 3.25", I had to use the intricate setting on my Cricut Explore for the orange layer, and Cricut card stock.  I tried to cut him out of some other paper and he ripped all up.

I added the wording on the front of the card with vinyl.  I usually use Oracle 651 because I like the shine.  I do this quite a bit when I want wording that is cut out, card stock is too difficult to place for these tiny letters.

Supplies used:
Baby Mine by Carta Bella
Navy Blue - Recollections (Michaels)
Enamel Dots - Michaels
Oracle 651 - Blue (Sentiment)

I {heart} sketches with a twist #151

This weeks twist was a hand written sentiment, which I did not do.  I used a stamp that looked handwritten, but I knew if I tried to write it, it would end up in the garbage.

My Mom, called and asked me to make her a card for a friend who recently lost everything in a fire.  It was devastating to this family, they lost everything but their lives and the clothes on their backs.  We are not sure if it was a blessing or not that they were not home, because they did loose the family pet.  Of course our hearts and prayers go out to this family in their hour of need.

She asked for something simple, so I pulled out one of my FTHstamps and decided to use this opportunity to enter the weekly sketch challenge also, #151.

I did take a little creative license on this stamp "Every Flower" and sliced the image a bit to create just two flowers.  I added the bee from the current free image, "Bee Happy Birdbrain".  If you haven't ever tried out one of their digital stamps, stop by their site and pick it up, they have adorable images.  You will get hooked just like I did. With everyone coloring in Adult Coloring books, I decided to purchase digital stamps for my coloring.  Now these images can be added to my cards.

The paper is from "Life is Good" by Echo Park.  These are actually page kits, I personally don't use the stickers, but I am saving them for my niece and grand daughter when they start scrapbooking.

My niece actually asked me one time if I had to go to college to learn how to make my cards and paper crafts. I chuckled and told her no, anybody can do it if they just try.

Mojo Monday #447, Oh Baby

My inspiration for this card is from the #MOJO447 sketch this week provided by Julee. There are lots of layers and a little funky attitude.

With all the layers, I decided to try some of my colored vellum from Cricut.   It adds a lot of color without all the weight, plus I have noticed that vellum is popular these days.  I went a little further and embossed my pieces for added added texture.
Since I chose to make a baby card, I pulled out my scalloped die cuts from Spellbinders.

The sentiment "Oh, Baby" is actually an svg file I received with my Craftilicious bundle I purchased through the Hungry Jpeg.  This is normally an svg file, but I chose to color it and print it out.  I used SCAL 4 to do this.
The designer paper is "Bundle of Joy - a New Addition" by Echo Park.  I picked this up from Hobby Lobby during a 50% off sale.  I have recently started using Echo Park and really love their papers.

I added a little extra color to the feet with my Prismacolors, I wanted them to pop more.

Thanks for stopping by.

Mojo Monday #446

This weeks sketch from Mojo Monday, MOJO#446, uses stars as an example.  I like stars when making cards for the men in my life.  So I stayed with that theme and created a masculine card.

I added a little bling with the silver foil.  The star border is an image available in Design Space, which I cut using my Cricut Explore.  The birthday sentiment I created in SCAL 4 with one of my system fonts and uploaded to Design Space and cut it out of the adhesive backed foil.  I use vinyl a lot for my card sentiments, and I usually use Oracle 651 (outdoor), because it has a shiny finish.  You could foil it, but I don't have great results foiling vinyl.

Supplies used:

Echo Park Designer Paper - "Getaway" (Hobby Lobby)
Silver Foil Card Stock - from DCWV (Hobby Lobby)
Cricut Card stock
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
Xyron Adhesive Runner (HSN)

So I hope you enjoyed my card.

Till next time,

Happy Craftin!

From the Heart - Monthly Stamp Challenge

This month at From the Heart the monthly stamp challenge is "Hamlet PigWit in the Planter".  This adorable stamp can be used for quite a few occasions, plus you get some great sentiments to go with it.    Those sentiments can be used in Design Space to PTC on your own labels, no stamps or ink needed.  I also used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, FMS#235.  This sketch was perfect to showcase this stamp set.

Because of all the flowers, I thought this needed to be a girly card.

This stamp looks challenging, but with the use of chalk and pencils it was much easier than I thought it would be.  I watched a few videos about using my chalks and blending pen to color with.  I love the soft look of the chalks.  Using chalk on the background is easier to control and gives your stamped images a little depth. I sprayed it with a fixative after I was finished so there wouldn't be any smudging.

I think it came out really cute,  I wanted the image to be the focal point of the card so I chose very subtle colors and kept the background to a very simple print.  And for once in a long time, I thought bling would be too much.

Supplies used:

CTMH Exclusive inks - Black
CTMH Stamp - #D1475 Card Chatter - Birthday Occasions
Inkadinkado Chalks - Soft Tones (Hobby Lobby)
Pebbles Chalks - Brights (Hobby Lobby or Amazon)
Krylon Workable Fixatif
Prismacolor Blendable Pencils

Hope you enjoyed it.

Till next time,

Happy Craftin!

From the Heart Weekly Sketch #150

Today I am sharing a card inspired by the I {heart} Sketches with a twist #150 over at From the Heart Stamps.  I am using one of their new stamps "Hamlet PigWit Cold Suds".  This is an adorable stamp that is perfect for the men in your life, or any beer drinker.  I think this would also work really well if you have a St. Patrick's Day card to make.

For the twist, I added studs in place of buttons, bows just seemed to girly.  I embossed my solid pieces and then added a little distressing with a file cube, just to add a little rustic look to it.  You don't need to purchase a fancy distressing tool, use those emory boards or files you have laying around the house.  Just remember you have to use white core card stock to be able to distress your paper, solid core won't give you any results.

Supplies I used:
CTMH Card stock in Sapphire and Desert Sand
Designer Paper "Getaway" by Echo Park
CTMH Exclusive ink in Sapphire
Embossing Folder - Lifetime Crafts (purchased at Tuesday Morning)
Cricut Card stock
CTMH Durable Studs in Antique Gold
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
Xyron Adhesive Runner (HSN)
Prismacolor Blendable Pencils

Mother's Day Beautiful Gift Boxes

I have been obsessed the past week making these cute little Hydrangea gift boxes, by Dreaming Tree. These are from the "Love You Mom Svg Bundle".

I did find out that the long pearlized pens are much more secure than those petite ones recommended. If you use the petite, you will need to add a little glue to the pins or they fall out when handling.

I did make a single box, which I have to say the idea was from another crafter on a Facebook group I belong to.  All you have to do is take the 4 short sides and snip the tabs off of two of them.  The other pieces, with the exception of the top panel work as is.

The only really difficult part is shading all those flowers, 30 on each box.  As you see in the picture, those cute little mini pots work too.  Just glue the leaves to the rim of the pot.  I think a cute glass vase or candle holder from Dollar Tree would work great too.  I just haven't made it there yet to try it.

Stop by the Dreaming Tree, Leo has some amazing 3D crafts, and some beautiful cards.
