Peek-A-Boo It's Two

Hi everyone, it's not often anyone needs a card for twins, but I did this week.  I searched for images for twins and couldn't find anything I really liked.

So while I was at  Wal-Mart I thought I would browse their card selection.  This was the only card for twins.  So I thought, I can make that.

First I had to search the internet for mechanical sliding cards and used the instructions to create my card in Design Space.  I may not have made it correctly, but it seems to work ok.  It's basically they same as any slide card, except there is a piece of paper behind the slot that you attach your images to. When you pull the tab, they move.

All the images I used are available in DS, but the carriage is not an ACCESS image, it's from the Paper Dolls cartridge.  The baby faces are from "Baby Steps", I just removed all the details and used my Baby Faces stamps from Peachy Keen.  I cut my babies with white paper and colored the with my Prismacolor pencils, you just can't get a good flesh tone card stock.  Here is a screen shot of the file and all the images, I just love how the new DS 3 displays our files.  This is almost identical to the IPAD app.

The stroller, I used the write feature and instead of cutting the slices the image showed I wrote them with a dark blue pen.  Them I used my pencils and colored for a little dimensions.  I also, used the slice feature to create tires, this image was only 1 layer so it didn't have any details.

Now for the cute part, I forgot to cut a little piece out of my top layer, but it still works.  See the little ribbon on the right?  You just pull this out and here it is, Ta Dah!

I used the write feature  for my Peek-A-Boo sentiment and the PTC with "times TWO", which I should have made a little darker.

It's pretty thick, fun foam is beneath the background layer, then I used foam dots for the babies on the sliding piece, and doubled up the foam dots on the carriage.  The dots are Nuvo crystal in Apple Green.

It took me all day, but it was well worth it.

I'm late for a very important date!

I hope this post finds everyone ready to greet summer.  Humidity is back and man it's hot already and we are just in the low 80's.

Today's card is "Hamlet Pigwit Air Lift" by From the Heart Stamps.  Of course, I am using SCAL 4 to create my die cut.  So I upload both the image and die cut into Design Space.  I create a die cut for all my digital stamps as I purchase them.  That way they are ready to be uploaded as I need them.

I do have one piece of advice, which I might have mentioned before.  When using PTC with your digital stamps and a white background, turn OFF the bleed feature.  You may get a little shadow around your image if you don't.

Challenges:

Supplies:
Card Stock - AC
Designer Paper - MFT Plaid Patterns
Prismacolor pencils
Inside out Circle Dies - MFT
Fancy Scallop Circle Dies - Spellbinders
Enamel dots - Recollections

Till next time

Fish Bowl Card

Hi everyone, today's card features "Under the Sea Birthday Set" by Bugaboo Stamps.

I cut out a cute fish bowl image from Design Space, using the slice and weld features I modified the fish bowl, so I could have an outer rim.

I used my Tim Holtz Distress Inks and markers to create a watercolor background of water and sand.
The fish was attached with foam tape to add dimension.

I created the little bubbles with my Nuvo Crystal drops.  Instead of applying directly to the card, I made the dots on some left over vinyl backing.  Once they are dry, they pop right off and then I glued them in place.  I don't always get the drops the right size, so this way I can do a few and then select the ones I want.  The rest I put in a little container for future projects.

Hey Chickie!

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by.   Todays card was created using the sketch from Mojo Monday.

This cute little chick and the wording is part of the "Some Bunny" stamp set from Simon Says.  I just love the designer papers from Echo Park,  Easter Celebrations.  A lot of the reverse sides are usable all year, they are flowered and prints that aren't only for easter.

I love this color combo, and the cute little chicks on the paper were perfect for my chick image.

I created a die cut from the stamp in SCAL 4 and then stamped with my Misti.  I save the negative piece of card stock from cutting my image.  Then I stamp my image on a piece of scrap paper, now I can lay my negative piece over the stamped image, be sure to secure your scrap paper with a little repositional tape so it doesn't move.

Then I place my cut image in the negative space and stamp, perfect every time.  You can do the same thing with the dies and stamp sets that coordinate.  Search on Misti, you can see lots of videos in action doing this.  Prior to owning a Misti, I hardly ever stamped anything, I couldn't get it straight or an even stamp.  Now no problem, other that forgetting to clean my stamp.

I colored the image with my Prismacolors, I always forget to use the correct paper for my alcohol markers.

Some Bunny

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by today.  I still have a few Easter cards to do.

I pulled out my March Card Kit, from Simon Says Stamp.   to create a few cards.  This one features the Bunny from stamp set included in the kit.

I cut out some cloud images with my Cricut Explore and used old makeup brushes to stencil them onto the background.  The grass and flower images are from the CTMH SOTM.  I also, made the banner piece on my Explore with the slice feature and free images.  I make die cuts for a lot of my stamps, by scanning the stamp image, importing it into SCAL 4 and creating a shadow.  I upload to Design Space, cut, then stamp the die cut with my Misti.  The Misit allows a perfectly centered image of the die cut.

Bunny image is "Some Bunny" from Simon Says, and designer card stock is Echo Park Easter Celebration and CTMH Penelope.  I thought the carrot background was perfect for my bunny.

The bunny is attached with a wobble spring.  You can make your own, just do a google search on action wobble or spring wobble.  There are ton's of videos.

Springtime - Means Rainbows

Hi everyone,

Hope your day is shaping up to be like springtime.  We skipped right over that here and moved right into summer.  But we have been having a lot of showers, so that means rainbows.

I chose "Peek-A-Boo Girl" by Bugaboo Stamps to put on the birthday card.  She reminds me on my niece, so maybe she can give this to her Mom.

I left off a sentiment since I used a Happy Birthday embossing folder, which I brushed with my Distress Inks and clarity brushes.  I used rainbow colors and swiped diagonally but most of it's covered so you can't really see it.

I added some dots with my Nuvo Crystal drops.

Supplies:
Clarity Brushes
Mini Distress Inks
Designer Card Stock - My Favorite Things Celebrations
Prismacolor Pencils

A Little Pickup

I created another card using "I heart sketches" sketch.  Unfortunately, I was not paying attention and did not use a FTHS image for the last card "Some Bunny".

So here is a different take.  I used my Distress Crayons, by Tim Holtz and my finger to blend them on the background.

I used PTC feature with the Explore and cut out my digital images "Every Flower Has a Bloom" by From the Heart Stamps.

The sentiment was embossed with white embossing powder on vellum.
