Craft Room Tissue Box Cover

I can't always think of things to make with stamps, other than cards or gift tags.  I don't do much scrapbooking these days.  So when I saw this image, I thought it would be perfect for my tissue box holder I had been planning to make.

I tried using my AG Minc with a glitter sheet, but it would not adhere to my toner, not sure why.  So I decided to upload the sentiment into DS and cut it out in glitter vinyl. This worked out perfect.

I used a heavy duty card stock for the base and then layers of purple and white.  This helps the box become a little sturdier.  I embossed the white layer so it wouldn't seem so plain.  I am loving the colors, my craft room is black and white, I think purple is a good pop of color.  Now if I could just buy the new Lilac Cricut Explore.

Bingo with Catch a Bug

Today's challenge is a Bingo challenge.

I used distress, die/punch, and bugaboo image.  This is June's Newsletter image, you receive a free image with each month's newsletter.  So jump on over to the Bugaboo Stamp Store and sign up.

This card was shared in one of my Cricut Explore groups, I wish I knew who shared it so I could give her a shout out.  This is a side step card, I made a few changes, like using the window box image and adding the flower vine on the sign post, plus a little grass in front of the fence.

You can't tell by the picture, but I cut out two windows and added a piece of acetate in the center so it looks like glass.  The curtains are behind the glass.  Nuvo Crystal drops in Bright Gold were used for the little screw heads on the signs.

I used a "wood slat"embossing folder from CTMH to create the look of wood.  My other wood grain folders embossing was too large to work with these little pieces.  Next time, I think I'll do a little slicing to add a little dimension to the top of the window frame.

Freebie Friday - Heartstrings

Today's card is the Freebie Friday image available at the Bugaboo Stamp Store.

The die cut "you" is an image available in DS.  I cut 3 white layers and glued them together to add dimension.  The stamped sentiment is from Honeybee "sentiment builder".  The background layer is Distress Oxide Ink in "Worn Lipstick".   I added a little sparkle to the wings with my Wink of Stella.

It's a Shell-e-bration!

I picked out this cute little mermaid to showcase on Bugaboo's Oldie but Goodie Thursday.  Partly because this was an image I won, during the big Birthday Bash last year, it is "Under the Sea Birthday Set".    You really need to take a look at all the wonderful images at the Bugaboo Stamp Store.

First I created a water background with my Distress Inks and watercolor paper.  The colors used here were Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio.

I cut a shell image from DS, the background of the shell is actually clear vellum, which I colored, by blending my Distress Inks onto it.  It looks like I bought it that way.  The ink blends really well onto the vellum.

The background is a circle image I created in SCAL 4, then uploaded into DS.  I added some sparkle to the bubbles with my Wink of Stella, clear.

I wrote my sentiment with my Explore, the font is Modern Calligraphy - Cigar Box Font.  I had to separate the letters and place them with the flow of the banner.

A few sequins for more bubbles and she was all done.

Humor Me Wednesday.

Here is an oldie but goodie from Bugaboo Stamps, "Frame It - Gus Golf".   I chose this image in honor of Father's Day, which is fast approaching.

I used chalks on the grass and sky in the background, then colored the image with my Prismacolor pencils.  This paper is from Graphic 45 "Good Ol' Sport" collection.   I picked this up at Tuesday Morning for a really good price.  Lately my TM hasn't had much paper to choose from, the word must be out.

Not much on instructions, the zig-zag is an image available in DS.  I don't have may dies with shapes, that's what I have my Cricut Explore for.  It's hard to see, but I added a little zig-zag impression along the edges.  These dies, don't cut, they only add stitching and other designs along your straight edges, you can find them at  Simon Says Stamp or My Favorite Things.

Before you leave, take a moment to browse the Bugaboo Stamp Store and check out all the amazing images.

Fast & Furious

Hi everyone, it's Saturday and this week the challenge at "Catch the Bug" is "Fast and Furious", which can be interpreted loosely, which of course I did.

Here is good ol' "Gus Bday Optional".  I saw him on the scooter and thought this old geeser thinks he is moving fast and furious.  Check out all the fabulous images at the Bugaboo Stamp Store.

I used my star dies, one inside the other to create the hollowed out stars.  As you can see it is quite a simple card, I used a sketch I found on Pinterest to get my creative juices flowing.

Bugaboo Stamps - Freebie Friday

TGIF!  That means, you got it, a free stamp from Bugaboo.  If you want yours, jump on over to the Bugaboo Store and look for Friday (FF) Freebie  at the bottom of the page, or just click on my link.

This week Jodie is sharing one for the boys  "Gus Fish Whisperer".   This is a great image for all those Father's Day Cards you are working on, especially if you have a fisherman or a want a be fisherman in the family.

Did you notice the white boots?  Well, down here in Louisiana, we call them shrimp boots, it is actually hard to find boots in other colors.  Why white, I have no idea, I just know all the men down here who own boots, own white ones.  Our license plate reads "Sportsman's Paradise", it's only paradise in the winter, why they would want to get out in a boat and fish in the summer, is beyond my understanding.  You will have baked fish before you get back to the dock.

Don't worry, if you ever miss out on a freebie and really want it, they are always available in the store.

Catch the Bug - Oldie But Goodie

Hi everyone, it's Thursday, you know what that means, let's pull out some of those images you have had for ages and haven't used in awhile.

For my oldie but goodie, I am featuring one of my favorite characters "Gus TidBits - Drink & Drive".  Gus is just hilarious.

I just have to give this to my Dad, every time someone spills a beer, he yells "alcohol abuse".

If you need some insiration, check out all those card sketches available at Pinterest.  I find it a lot easier to start wth a vision and since I can't work without something to start my brain, I always use a sketch.

I really love how that green and brown work together, blue and brown is also a good combo, especially for a man.

I used my chalks and a cotton ball to add a little color to the back ground.  I did it before coloring the image, but I have done it after.  Qtips work for this too.

Be sure to visit the Bugaboo Stamp Store, on Tuesday's you can get the new releases for 50% off and there is always a freebie on Friday's.

Catch the Bug - Humor Me

Today is Wednesday and it is time to tickle the funny bone.  So I chose to honer  National Rose' Day (that's Rose' wine).  Bugaboo has the perfect image,  Bugaboo Stamps "Glass of Wine a Day" .

You could have this big glass of wine after a really long day.  I realize at first glance this card isn't really humorous, but the message inside says it all.

I tried a different card stock this time, I have some Spectrum Noir smooth, I purchased for markers.  It works pretty good with pencils too, but I think I'll save it for  markers, the Georgia Pacific Card Stock from Wal-Mart has been working just fine and it is less expensive.

I would love to know what papers you are using when coloring with your Prismacolors, just leave me a note below.

Coloring glasses are really challenging if you are novice artist like me, I used a very light warm gray, I think it was 30%, and only colored where I thought there might be a shadow and blended it out.  I was happy with the results.  A simple sketch and a cute image always make great little cards.

Be sure to visit the Bugaboo Stamp Store, on Tuesday's you can get the new releases for 50% off and there is always a freebie on Friday's.

Let's hit the Beach

It's Tuesday and that means the Bugaboo Stamp Store has some new releases.  This little Knobby Knee gal is one of them,  you can get yours here.    They are 50% all week, so now is the time to pick yours up.

Since she is in a bathing suit and her shades on her head I have her at the beach,  I would have colored in a palm tree if I had one.  I used an old make up brush to add the background color, which allows me a little more control in small places. and a stipple brush to make the sand have a little dimension.

You can't tell in the picture, but I add Glossy Accents to her sunglasses to make them look shiny.

I found the perfect paper in my stash, "Paradise Beach" by Echo Park.  I love the blue and orange together.  I also found some glitter dots I had stashed away that worked perfectly.

Take a moment to browse the Bugaboo Stamp Store and check out all the amazing images.

Catch the Bug - Anything but a Card

It's Monday and time to make something other than a card.  Last year, Christmas rolled around and I was caught with a shortage of tags and cards.  So I am starting them now.

I chose "Rudolph with Presents" from the Bugaboo Stamp Store.

I actually double layer my tags so I uploaded the image into DS and flattened it on the tag.  I sliced an oval out of the top layer  so my image was in the window.  The oval I used to slice, I duplicated it and the used the two ovals to make the frame.  Ovals have to be eyeballed, it seems with you duplicate an oval in DS and then change the dimensions, it doesn't make it even all the way around.  I wish DS had a shadow feature, like Sure Cuts A Lot, it makes creating exact duplicates a little larger so easy.

I don't have any glitter dots laying around so I used my Nuvo drops in Bright Gold.

One down, 20 more to go.

Be sure to visit the Bugaboo Stamp Store, on Tuesday's you can get the new releases for 50% off and there is always a freebie on Friday's.

Catch the Bug - Anything Goes

I am excited to say I am part of Bugaboo's Design Team for the next two months.

Todays card is featuring one of my favorite images "Mini set - Cat blocks".  There are a total of 6 blocks, but for this card I only used three.  I printed the images and then cut them with scissors.

I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils and added some enamel dots with my Nuvo Crystal Drops.  The sentiment was written by my Cricut Explore using "Kickball font".

Going Around in Circles

Hi everyone,
Here is another card using my Wild Cuddly Critters stamp set I received a few months ago in the Monthly Card Kit from Simon Says.

The little elephant works well with pink, so I made this one for a girl.   Since I was working with a theme circles, I changed the sketch a little and used polka dots.

With a few sequins, this card comes together quickly.

Challenges:

Supplies:
Patterned Paper - Bundle of Joy Baby Floral - Echo Park

Baby Card

Hi everyone,
Today's card was made using my Wild Cuddly Critters stamp set I received a few months ago in the Monthly Card Kit from Simon Says.

It was sent as a Valentine's set, but the little critters are just too adorable not to use on baby cards.  I just love the gingham blue plaid for baby cards, I wish I had it in pink.

The hearts were colored then I add a layer of Glossy Accents to give them a shine.

Challenges:

Supplies:
Patterned Gingham Print - Paper Studious
Card stock - Cricut
Sentiment - CTMH #D1675 - Discontinued
Prismacolor Pencils
Glossy Accents

Fisherman Gus

Today's card is a humorous one.  This manly image is "Gus Fishing".  I split the sentiment into to parts, using a photo editing software and cropping it.

The rest of the sentiment was written inside the card with my Cricut Explore.  I used the Cricut fin tip marker in Blueberry and the DS font "Bicycle for 2", included in the Access subscription.

I created a cloud stencil and blended the clouds with my distress inks (Stormy Sky), and cut out a few little clouds for dimension.

The waves are also a DS image, that I layered, with the boat in-between them. I added a little jumping fish I happened to see in DS too.  The color scheme and pattern paper is from CTMH "Regatta" which is no longer available.  The colors are actually, Sapphire Blue and Glacier.

I did add Happy Father's Day on the inside of the card, but of course you can make it for any occasion.  I think this would be a great image for a man retiring, who plans on spending time fishing.

A Birthday Full of Fun

Here is a fun card I made with two Bugaboo images, the Balloon Topper and the Birthday Pup Set.

I used a pierced die cut my balloon image out of, then using the marker to create faux stitches.  I used a cotton ball and some chalk to color the background so it wouldn't be stark white.  The sentiment was inked with CTMH Exclusive Inks in Black and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I used SCAL 4 to create my die cut, that I uploaded into DS.  This particular image I used a shadow of .10, but I think .8 is large enough.  The .1 seems to leave too much white space.  I attached the little guy with an action wobble, the kiddies love them.

Using the CTMH Flower Market background stamps, stamped the pattern in Versa Mark Ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This allowed me to color my images with ink to match my patterned paper.

Simple Anniversary Card

Todays card is very simple.

I created my own background by stamping my image in various positions and heat embossing with clear embossing powder.  Then I blended in my ink to add color.

The top layer was cut using the inside/out rectangle and oval dies from My Favorite Things.  I cut 4 individual Happy sentiments and layered, since the image is so small, adding foam tape is difficult.

Simple Father's Day Card

Today's card was made using the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy Die Cuts and stamp set.

I cut out happy,  3 times and layered for depth.  The colors I used were

The zig-zag edge is an image from DS.  The stars are stitched dies from Amazon, these are Chinese made and very inexpensive.  They work perfectly fine.  I also picked up hearts.

Say it with Flowers

Today's card features "Flower Box" digital stamp from Bugaboo Stamps.

I prefer using my Nuvo drops on a teflon mat or left over vinyl backing.  This way I can pick and choose the dots that look the best, they don't always come out right when applied directly to the card. At least mine don't, I sometimes get air bubbles.  You just peel them off the mat and glue in place.

Hi everyone,

Today I am featuring this cute little unicorn from Bugaboo stamps.  I did make a few changes to the image, which is why I love digital stamps.

Mother's Love

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted recently, I actually did make a few cards but didn't have any challenges to enter them in.

Here is my first Mother's Day card, I was actually inspired by a card I saw at Walmart.  So I created a cut file in DS.  I wanted to use the new paper from CTMH "Live Beautifully, but with the white top layer the words didn't pop.  Don't worry, I made another card, and will post it later.

I used the Print then cut  feature, so that I could foil the frame and banner.  I haven't had any trouble what so ever, getting my Explore to recognize the registration marks.

This is a very simple card to make, you could fill the words with a pattern, but I opted to cut them out and layer.

Challenges:

Supplies:
Card Stock - CTMH White Daisy and Recollections Black
Designer Paper - CTMH - retired
AG Minc
Minc Foil - Heidi Swapp

Happy Mother's Day to all those wonderful ladies out there!  Hope you have a great one.

Till next time.

CASEing From the Heart Stamps - May Blog Hop

From the Heart Stamps is having their monthly Blog Hop, and everyone has been asked to CASE a card from one of the Blog Hop participants.  I chose this  colorful, whimsy card  by Imke at MyCraftyPlace.  She has truly inspired me with her work, all the the Design Team for From the Heart Stamps do great work.    If you haven't joined in the fun, be sure to do it  now From the Heart Stamps - May Blog Hop.

She used image "Hippie Chick Birdbrain".  Her colors are so bold and definitely bring us back to the 60's.  I just love that little birdbrain hippie.

Thanks for stopping by.  Till next time.

Peek-A-Boo It's Two

Hi everyone, it's not often anyone needs a card for twins, but I did this week.  I searched for images for twins and couldn't find anything I really liked.

So while I was at  Wal-Mart I thought I would browse their card selection.  This was the only card for twins.  So I thought, I can make that.

First I had to search the internet for mechanical sliding cards and used the instructions to create my card in Design Space.  I may not have made it correctly, but it seems to work ok.  It's basically they same as any slide card, except there is a piece of paper behind the slot that you attach your images to. When you pull the tab, they move.

All the images I used are available in DS, but the carriage is not an ACCESS image, it's from the Paper Dolls cartridge.  The baby faces are from "Baby Steps", I just removed all the details and used my Baby Faces stamps from Peachy Keen.  I cut my babies with white paper and colored the with my Prismacolor pencils, you just can't get a good flesh tone card stock.  Here is a screen shot of the file and all the images, I just love how the new DS 3 displays our files.  This is almost identical to the IPAD app.

The stroller, I used the write feature and instead of cutting the slices the image showed I wrote them with a dark blue pen.  Them I used my pencils and colored for a little dimensions.  I also, used the slice feature to create tires, this image was only 1 layer so it didn't have any details.

Now for the cute part, I forgot to cut a little piece out of my top layer, but it still works.  See the little ribbon on the right?  You just pull this out and here it is, Ta Dah!

I used the write feature  for my Peek-A-Boo sentiment and the PTC with "times TWO", which I should have made a little darker.

It's pretty thick, fun foam is beneath the background layer, then I used foam dots for the babies on the sliding piece, and doubled up the foam dots on the carriage.  The dots are Nuvo crystal in Apple Green.

It took me all day, but it was well worth it.

Challenge:

Supplies:

Designer Paper - MFT Plaid Patterns
Card Stock - AC, Cricut and Paper Studios
Nuvo Crystal Drops in Apple Green and Silver (tire hub cap)
Cricut Pen in Blueberry
Swiss Dots Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug
Prismacolor Pencils

Till next time,

I'm late for a very important date!

I hope this post finds everyone ready to greet summer.  Humidity is back and man it's hot already and we are just in the low 80's.

Today's card is "Hamlet Pigwit Air Lift" by From the Heart Stamps.  Of course, I am using SCAL 4 to create my die cut.  So I upload both the image and die cut into Design Space.  I create a die cut for all my digital stamps as I purchase them.  That way they are ready to be uploaded as I need them.

I do have one piece of advice, which I might have mentioned before.  When using PTC with your digital stamps and a white background, turn OFF the bleed feature.  You may get a little shadow around your image if you don't.

Challenges:

Supplies:
Card Stock - AC
Designer Paper - MFT Plaid Patterns
Prismacolor pencils
Inside out Circle Dies - MFT
Fancy Scallop Circle Dies - Spellbinders
Enamel dots - Recollections

Fish Bowl Card

Hi everyone, today's card features "Under the Sea Birthday Set" by Bugaboo Stamps.

I cut out a cute fish bowl image from Design Space, using the slice and weld features I modified the fish bowl, so I could have an outer rim.

I used my Tim Holtz Distress Inks and markers to create a watercolor background of water and sand.
The fish was attached with foam tape to add dimension.

I created the little bubbles with my Nuvo Crystal drops.  Instead of applying directly to the card, I made the dots on some left over vinyl backing.  Once they are dry, they pop right off and then I glued them in place.  I don't always get the drops the right size, so this way I can do a few and then select the ones I want.  The rest I put in a little container for future projects.

Hope everyone had a great Easter Holiday and didn't eat too much chocolate.  Today I have a quick post to share my latest card.

I chose "Thank you Tulip block" from Bugaboo Stamps.  I did crop the image and erased the Thank You so I could add a different sentiment.

Supplies:
Card Stock - Cricut
Designer Card Stock  - Lawn Fawn Rainbow
Pierced Rectangle Dies
Sentiment:  CTMH #C1632 - Say it All Occasions
White Embossing Powder
Versamark Ink
Sequins - A Cherry On Top multi pack

Hey Chickie!

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by.   Todays card was created using the sketch from Mojo Monday.

This cute little chick and the wording is part of the "Some Bunny" stamp set from Simon Says.  I just love the designer papers from Echo Park,  Easter Celebrations.  A lot of the reverse sides are usable all year, they are flowered and prints that aren't only for easter.

I love this color combo, and the cute little chicks on the paper were perfect for my chick image.

I created a die cut from the stamp in SCAL 4 and then stamped with my Misti.  I save the negative piece of card stock from cutting my image.  Then I stamp my image on a piece of scrap paper, now I can lay my negative piece over the stamped image, be sure to secure your scrap paper with a little repositional tape so it doesn't move.

Then I place my cut image in the negative space and stamp, perfect every time.  You can do the same thing with the dies and stamp sets that coordinate.  Search on Misti, you can see lots of videos in action doing this.  Prior to owning a Misti, I hardly ever stamped anything, I couldn't get it straight or an even stamp.  Now no problem, other that forgetting to clean my stamp.

I colored the image with my Prismacolors, I always forget to use the correct paper for my alcohol markers.
