Blooming Birthday Card

I wish I had a stamp that said Happy Blooming' Birthday.  I could have used my Cricut to write it, but I just thought of it while I am writing this post, maybe next time.

I have seen this technique on a few challenge blogs lately, so I thought I would give it a try.  You layer the stamped image, leaving some of it uncolored.  I decided to color all of mine in, but still layered the flowers.  You could fussy cut them, but this image allowed me to create a shadow background in  SCAL 4.  The image I used was "Every Flower" , a digital stamp available at "From the Heart Stamps".  I uploaded this image into Design Space and used the print and cut feature, so my flowers would already be cut out.  Not all stamps work with this technique, but I have had it work on quite a few.  I added three complete flower images on my background layer, being sure they would line up with the flower images.  I used PTC on my background layer also.

I covered the flowers on the background with the blue layer, then placed colored flower images on top with pop dots.

Here is a screen shot of what I did so you can see it, I don't think I explained it very well.

I stamped my image and then embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I added a little Wink of Stella on the petals and some Stickles in orange on the flower centers and yellow rhinestones for my sparkle.

Challenges:

Supplies:
Prismacolor Blending Pencils
Yellow and white card stock - Recollections
Stickles
Wink of Stella - clear
"Happy Birthday" sentiment from CTMH #D1502 Look Who's Occasions

Red, White & Blue Gift Bag

It's almost the 4th of July already, summer is flying by.  It is scorching outside, so the only thing I can do is stay inside in the AC.  I have been trying to finish my grand daughter's patriotic dress for the 4th.  I got so caught up in coloring digital stamps, I put it off, now I am in a crunch.

I decided to do something a little different with this weeks sketch at Mojo Monday.  I have a few gift bags in my stash so I made a cute bag to pack my little gift in.  I used these chevron images at christmas time to decorate some gift tags and really loved the look, so I thought they would be perfect for my bag.

The chevron strips are actually cut from an adhesive backed red glitter card stock I found at Tuesday Morning.   The image is free image in Design Space (#M439A4), just use the hide contour feature to remove the heart.

The stars cut out is a back ground image from CTMH Artbooking cartridge,  layered with a piece of white glitter card stock.

The sentiment"Three cheers to the Red, White and Blue" is from Verve Stamps - it's a free digital stamp provided by this week's Mojo Monday Challenge - 3 Cheers Digi Set by Julee Tillman.  It's available thru June 30th, so be sure to stop by and pick it up.

I am really happy with the end result,  and it's the perfect gift bag for my grand daughters dress.

Challenges:
MojoMonday #453 - sketch
Catch the Bug Challenge Blog - anything but a card
Fantabulous Cricut  Challenge me Monday- theme patriotism
Simon Says Add some Shimmer (Wednesday Challenge)

Supplies:
Adhesive backed red glitter paper
White glitter card stock - Recollections
Navy Blue Card Stock - Recollections
Blue and silver sequins - CTMH Magical Collection
Stars & Bars ribbon - Hobby Lobby

Birthday Wishes

Birthday wishes with this cute little mouse, digital image is free at "From the Heart Stamps".  There are no sentiments included so I pulled out one of my own.

I colored this image awhile back.  I print my stamps on 4.25 x 5.5" pieces of card stock and color them when I feel like coloring, instead of using a coloring book.  So when I pull them out to put on a card I don't always have a perfect match.  These colors in the Florence paper pack I thought looked good without making the balloon stand out like a sore thumb.

I followed a few challenges for this card, here they are:
Sketch from Sketch Saturday #417.
Die cut / punches - Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge
Bingo - Ribbon, Animal & Players Choice Catch the Bug Saturday Challenge ( followed middle row, using twine, my cute little mouse and the puffies as player's choice)

I cut my image out with some pierced rectangle dies.  The larger middle layer is one of the pocket card pieces from the paper pack.

The striped center piece, is two pieces of the zip strips, I used the twine to hide where they come together in the middle.  So it looks like I added a 1" thick piece in the center.

Supplies:

Designer paper:  CTMH Florence
CTMH Exclusive card stock:  Canary and Pacifica
Sentiment - #C1638 Spring Critters from CTMH (retired)
Prismacolor Blendable pencils
Treasured Puffies from CTMH
Cottage Cutz - Pierced Rectangle Dies

I {heart} sketches #156 with a twist

Today's card is for the I {heart} sketch challenge #156, the twist this week is gratitude.  So I chose to lift my glass in appreciation.

The image is "Hamlet Pig Cold Suds", I cropped the sentiment from the same digital stamp set.  I add a little tickles to the suds, which you can't really tell in the picture, but it looks like real foam.

The paper is "Hopscotch", a Close to My Heart collection.

Hope to see you again soon.

Let's Pig Out

I found another sketch challenge, Sweet Sketch Wednesday 2.  I love using sketches to make my cards.  I am getting quite a collection.

Today is "Hamlet Pigwit Pig Out", I love these little pigs.

I am still getting used to how to size my images to fit on my cards, I tend to make them a little too big.  I need to research the best way to do this.

I used "All About a Boy" by Lori Whitlock, from Echo Park.  It has the cutest blue jean print.  I am shooting for making some of these pig out piggies for boys.  I am going to send this one to Send A Smile 4 Kids.
Thanks for stopping by.

Till next time,

It's Par-TEE time with Pigwit

Here is a quick card I put together for a sketch challenge, when I saw the sketch I thought it would be perfect to show case Pigwit. I don't know what I am going to do with all these cards featuring Pigwit golfing, but I just love coloring him.

#MFTWSC284
I cut the square with my Cottage Cutz pierced die, then cut the circle out of the center with the circle dies.  This made a frame which I attached to the stamped image with pop dots.  I added stitch lines with my white gel pen.

The most difficult part of making cards is choosing paper.  I end up wasting some, because it just doesn't look like I wanted.  This color combo ended up being perfect.

Supplies:
Image and sentiment - Hamlet Pigwit Tee it Up - "From the Heart Stamps"
Graphic 45 paper "Good Ole' Sport"
CTMH Exclusive card stock in Outdoor Denim and Cashmere
Sizzix Embossing Folder

Challenges:
My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #MFTWSC284 - sketch
Bugaboo Theme Challenge - Masculine
Lil' Patch of Crafty Friends - anything goes
Stamping Sensations June Challenge- Feature a creature

Catch the Bug Challenge

Today's card was inspired by "Bugaboo" stamps, #CTB410, sketch challenge.

I chose the image from a Friday Freebie I have.  I printed the sentiment on card stock and cut it with my scalloped circle dies and added a few pink enamel gems around the circle.  I colored the butterfly with my Prismacolor pencils and added a little pink.   If you can notice I swiped some pink chalk over the sentiment to incorporate the pink gems and the pink of the butterfly into my color theme. The butterfly was attached with pop dots.  I also used my Scallop edge punch to create the scallops.

Supplies:
CTMH Designer - Happy Times
Glitter Tape - Aqua
Pink enamel gems

Pigwit - Have a Tee-riffic Day

Hi,

Today I am showing Pigwit again, I just love this little pig.  You can find him and so many more Pigwits over at "From the Heart Stamps".  This card was inspired by I {heart} sketch #155.

I didn't use the twist this week, but I made my card 5x5".  I decided to keep my prints to a minimum to show case the image.  I used CTMH Fundamentals in Outdoor Denim and CTMH Card stock in Ruby.

I added 2 brads in red to carry the red throughout the card.  My die cut for the Cut it up challenge is the circle with Pigwit, cut with my circle dies in my Cuttlebug.

Mojo Monday #450

I combined a few challenges for today's card.

1.  Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog #FCCB 277 - Pet challenge.  Pluto is a pet, for Mickey Mouse and I love all things Disney.   The Cricut cut is my tag, from the Phrases cartridge (included in the Cricut Access) Image #M38CD2 and the card layers, are the free images.

2.  Cut It Up Challenge Blog - use any sketch and a die cut.  The cut is the tag described above and the sketch is from Mojo Monday,  #Mojo450

3.  Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #450 - Tall and skinny

4.  Color Throw Down #CTD395 - Green, Kraft and Cream.  I  have to say, this is a great color combination.

Pluto is technically an image from Design Space, I own all of the disney cartridges.  I changed Pluto's coloring a bit, I muted the colors.  I left just enough color to allow all the pieces to show up, then I flatten him and the sentiment to my tag.   I colored Pluto myself with my Prismacolor pencils.  I know I changed his coloring a bit, that was to make him blend with the colors, but I think his golden color would have worked just fine.   The sentiment is from one of my digital stamp sets I purchased at "From the Heart Stamps".

Supplies used:
Extra Thick Twine in Fern (CTMH)
Green Brad and wooden embellishment  (CTMH retired)
Kraft card stock - Colorbok
Designer  Paper - Echo Park

Thanks for stopping by.

Till next time,

Happy Craftin!

Challenge - Fusion

Here is a simple card I made with some guidelines from several challenges listed below.

I chose to use a new background stamp and embossing set by Sizzix I purchased at Tuesday Morning.  You stamp the image and then use the embossing folder to emboss  different areas.  Here is a close up to see how it embossed.

I then colored in the flourishes with my Lagoon ink pad and blending pen, then using a blending pen and chalk I lightly colored the flowers.  Using chalk give a very subtle color.  I added gems to the centers of the large flowers.  The smaller print was made using Lagoon ink and a background stamp.

Supplies used.

CTMH Exclusive Card stock - Sapphire Blue, Crystal Blue, White Daisy
CTMH Exclusive inks - Lagoon, Sapphire
Inkadinkado Chalks
Extra Thick twine in Glacier
Blue Glitter Trim
Blue gems

Challenges:
Fusion Card Challenge - color and sketch
Cards in Envy - Deep Blue
Glitter-N-Sparkle Challenge Blog - flowers
Starz Stamps - Hand-colored image

For anyone who is interested, CTMH is retiring some of their cartridges and all the coordinating stamps for these cartridges.  You may want to pick them up if you have been wanting them.  The cartridges expiring are Artiste Art Philosophy,  and Artfully Sent.

Thanks for stopping by.

I {Heart} Sketch Challenge #154

It's summer time and now we are thinking of the beach.  So I decided to use this great little image I got as a Friday Freebie.  It's "Hot Chick Flamingo", it can be purchased at "From the Heart Stamps".

This image comes with some great sentiments, but I used a simple one I had on hand, since I had pre-printed this image without a sentiment.  The sketch was very simple this week and adding the sentiments didn't fit into my design.

Here's a great tip for printing images on card stock with out wasting lots of paper.    I am using an Epson WF7610 with the rear feed and Pages.   I cut my card stock into 4 even pieces of 5.5x4.25 and feed it from the rear or you could use your photo feeder.  In "Pages" I use the Photo Card Template,  which is almost the same size as my cut card stock.  I drag my images and sentiments onto the page and size as needed.  Then I just print it out, using the best quality feature.  I do quite a few at a time and while I am sitting watching TV, I color my images for a later use.

For those of you with the Cricut Explore, you can also upload these images into Design Space and use the print and cut feature on any shape you want.

So don't be discouraged about using digital stamps, they open up a whole new world of possibilities, especially for creating amazing cards.

Supplies:

CTMH Designer paper - Calypso
CTMH Stamp - #D1629 (only available with Artfully Sent Collection)
CTMH Black sequins
Blue Glitter washi tape - Hobby Lobby
Prismacolor Blending Pencils - Amazon
Gambol - Michaels or Hobby Lobby with coupon

I hope you enjoyed my card today.  Thanks for stopping by.
