Elegant Wedding Card

Hi everyone,

I made this card based on a customers request.  She said the couple is deeply religious and wanted something with a cross or church.

This card could be used for Christening or even a sympathy card.  You don’t really need to add a sentiment and leave off the hearts.  You could even use entwined rings instead of the hearts.

The 2nd layer was actually an embossed piece of vellum.  It definitely offers a more delicate look.

I used my Explore to write the sentiment on the banner.  I just isolated the letters and moved them along the bottom of the banner to get the curved look.  The banner is from the CTMH Cricut Collection Artistry.

The hearts are a layered heart I found and sliced.  I cut one of the hearts so that I could entwine them.

Here are the supplies I used.

White Vellum - Michaels (located on Card stock aisle)
Anna Griffin cutting die  - Lace Trimmings

Don't forget the October promotions.

I am giving away this free file to make a box that holds 6 cupcakes.  All you have to do is make any size purchase with me.  I will send you the file separately, this offer is good through October 31, 2015.

Wedding Cruise Card

Hi Everyone,

Now this card is definitely different from any you will find in the store.  A customer requested a card with a Cruise ship theme, the happy couple was getting married before they set sail on a cruise.  I am happy to say the customer was thrilled with the card.

I looked at all the wedding cards on Pinterest and couldn't really find anything.  I did find some invites for a cruise ship wedding that had a picture of the cruise ship on them.  So I began a search for a ship in Design Space.  I found this adorable image on the cartridge "Life’s  A Beach".

I trimmed the moon off of the blue layer of the image, since I added a Heart in the background.   The Mr & Mrs is from the new CTMH Cricut Collection Artistry.  The heart is a free image on the Insert Image tab in Design Space.

I can’t really give you the exact colors I used, these were all scraps I had lying around.

I did ink up the edges and scrolls on the wave with a sponge dauber to add a hint of shading.  I also shaded the smoke and heart as well.

Here are the supplies I used.

Scroll patterned embossing folder from Paper Studios (Hobby Lobby)
Embroidered Hearts embossing folder - Anna Griffin
White pearls - Michaels
CTMH Exclusive card stock Lagoon, White Daisy, Black and Cranberry
Don't forget the October promotions.

I am giving away this free file to make a box that holds 6 cupcakes.  All you have to do is make any size purchase with me.  I will send you the file separately, this offer is good through October 31, 2015.

Masculine Birthday

Hi Everyone,

I was inspired by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #129.  I thought this sketch would make a great birthday card.

I have a few little details to tell you about.  I embossed my back layer with "Dots" embossing folder and then distressing it to bring out the white core of the paper.

Then I added clear embossing powder to the small stars.   As you can see in the photo, it brings out the design of the paper and creates a nice shiny embellishment.  The main colors here are,  CTMH Exclusive Card Stock Outdoor Denim and Ruby.  The patterned paper is from the Paper Pack, ProPlayer, which is now retired.

The sentiment is from "Joyful Birthday" stamp set #B1419, this was stamped in Outdoor Denim and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

This will be my last challenge entry for a couple of weeks, I have to get to work on my holiday projects.  Lots of presents and cards to make.

I will be sure to show you some of the great projects as I get them finished.

Be sure to check out the October promotions and make your holiday purchases at KimSalito.ctmh.com.

Till next time

Happy Birthday with Skylark

Hi Everyone,

I created this card for the MojoMonday Sketch challenge, this is #Mojo419.  This was a clean and simple card to make.

I have so many scraps from all my CTMH previous years paper, I really need to start using it.  So I pulled out retired paper pack from CTMH, Skylark.  I love the colors of this paper.  I really need to create a pretty spring scrapbook page layout with this.  The colors I used are Sweet Leaf and Lagoon.

I cut my square so that the bird was the focal point, just like a stamped image.  The circle was actually cut from the reverse side of the paper that had the bird image.

All the supplies I used were CTMH:
Exclusive Card Stock - Lagoon and White Daisy
Exclusive Inks - Lagoon
Stamp Set D1560 "Holiday Tags"
Aqua Dots

Everything is available to purchase, except the Skylark Paper pack.  Any of our paper packs provide you all coordinating patterns and colors.  Get your supplies here.

May your Holidays Twinkle

Hi everyone,

Here is a cute little Christmas card made with this months SOTM and White Pines paper.

I used the string and lights to create the bottom piece.  The little stars are also part of this stamp set.  I added little specks of  Stickles randomly on the stars.

The "May your HOLIDAYS" was written by my Explore.  I used the font included in the Cricut Collection - Artistry.

Very simple to put together, here is a list of the supplies.

White Pines Paper Pack

CTMH Exclusive Card stock in Cranberry, Fern, and Colonial White (Included in Paper Pack or kits)
CTMH Exclusive Inks, in Cranberry, Crystal Blue, Olive and Chocolate
CTMH Red Shimmer Trim
Stickles in Star Dust
CTMH SOTM "Twinkle" #S1510

Halloween Cupcake Box

Hi everyone,

This project was inspired by BittenbytheBug 2.  This week's theme is Halloween.
I don't make Halloween cards often, and I have already shared my Halloween scrapbook pages so I had to think of something else.  I made some cupcakes for my grand daughter, so I thought a cut Halloween box would work.

Here are the images I used.

Sweet Tooth Boxes - Rectangle Box #MF8411
Potions & Spells
 - Along Came A Spider #MA90F9
 - Hissing Cat #MA90A4
 - Spider #MA90CA

I somehow didn't get a picture of the bottom of the box, which was stamped and then heat embossed  with spider webs.  It really made a difference to the overall look.  Oh well, I am sure it is in the garbage can now.

To make the top, slice a rectangle from the center of the lid.  Now slice off all the sides of the the spider web sleeve until you get a rectangle.  Center this image on the lid then weld.

I cut "Along Came a Spider" from Oracle 651, I find cutting these detailed sentiments in smaller sizes work better in vinyl.  Plus, vinyl looks a little nicer in vinyl, than card stock.

Here is a list of supplies I used.

Black and silver twine

Happy Golden Birthday

Hi everyone,

It's MojoMonday time.  Here is my interpretation of this weeks Sketch, #Mojo418.  The stars in this sketch make it perfect for the Golden birthday that is coming up soon.

I don't really need to offer too much instructions with this card.  It was very simple to put together.  I used the free star image an just cut all my squares.  I meant to round the corners, but put it together before I realized I forgot to do this.  There is an advantage to cutting with the Explore, even simple cuts, you don't forget those little things.

I did a little inking on the embossed layer to make the stars pop.  "Golden Girl" was written with my Explore using a Perfect Medium pen, which fits perfect without having to remove the pen holder.  The font used was Fantastic Fonts - DJ Smitten.  I heat embossed this with gold embossing powder.

The two smaller stars are foiled, it's hard to tell in the photo.  I cut both out of the toner paper provided with my Anna Griffin Minc machine.

Here is the list of supplies I used.

CTMH Exclusive Card stock in White Daisy
Gold Glitter Card Stock (Michaels)
CTMH Exclusive Ink Stamp pad - black
CTMH Stamp Set - #B1419 Joyful Birthday
CTMH Confetti Stars Embossing Folder - Stars
Dew Drop Brilliance Ink Pads - Galaxy Gold
Recollections Gold Embossing Powder
Gold Sequins

You can purchase some of these supplies here.  Be sure to check out our October promotions.

Minc it with Toner Pens

Hi everyone,

In a previous blog I introduced you to my panel card.  If you missed it here it is.

What is so special about this card is the details I added to the poinsettia.  This image is from the Winter Wonderland cartridge, cut at about 3".

I wanted to add a little glimmer to the poinsettia, that would details and dimension.  I received a toner pen in my last auto shipment of my Anna Griffin Minc machine.

So what I did was use the pen to outline the image along all the cutout areas.  See the image below.

Then I ran it through the Minc machine according to the directions. I think the machine should be set at 3 for the toner pen, but for the glitter sheets you have to have it heated to 4.

Here is what it looks like after running it through the Minc.

The picture just doesn't do it justice.  But once added to the card it was really stunning.  So you can use the toner pen to add shimmer and foil to just small sections of an image.

Here are the supplies I used.

CTMH Exclusive Card Stock in Cranberry, New England Ivy and Colonial White
CTMH Exclusive Ink Stamp pad in Cranberry
Anna Griffin Toner pen and red glitter sheet
October SOTM #S1510 - Twinkle
Scroll Background by Darice
CTMH Diamonds Embossing Folder

Be sure to stop by my website and pick up your supplies to make this card and more.

Six cupcake gift box - Oct

Hi Everyone!

Here is something I created with my Cricut Explore.  This machine comes in handy for so many things.  I was transporting 24 cupcakes to a family gathering.  I came up with the idea of cutting some inserts to put in the box so my cupcakes didn't move around.  As far as I know the largest cupcake box inserts only hold 4 cupcakes, and with the measurement of the box I figured I could make one for six out of a 12x12 sheet of paper.

I opened a cupcake box image, measured my box and got to work.  Here is what I ended up with.

Since I had the inserts I thought why not design a box for them.  I make cupcakes for my friends when we meet for lunch.  There are only 4-6 of us, so I wanted a way to carry 6 cupcakes at a time.

After several tries, I think I created a file that works well and will hold up.  I don't have any 24" card stock so I had to make a design in pieces.   Here is my finished box, it measures 6.5Wx9.75Lx2.75D.

I had to create panels, to add to each end.  You can see in the pictures below how they are constructed.

Here is what my file looks like.  I made different types of end panels.  The end panels A are used with your corner trims, and End Panel B, will fold around your corners.  All of the images were created from Free images available in Design Space.

To construct, cut out the bottom and fold all four sides,  the short flap on the ends will be on the outside, and the two flaps on each side will be on the inside.  You will then cover this end with the end panel of your choice, either A or B, my box shows using A.

Then cut out your end panels and corners of your choice.  I purposely made these about 1/4" taller than the box sides.  This is to allow for the icing that is piped on your cupcakes.  If you don't have the icing this tall, you can trim down to match the sides.

Attach the corners of your choice.  Cut out the top and assemble, the notched flaps go to the inside.

If you choose to add an overlay, use one I have in the file or make one yourself.  The oval cut out is about 3.75" (W) x 6.5" (H).  There is a free oval available you can resize and slice as desired.

I am offering this file to all of my CTMH customers, place any size order with me this month and I will share this file with you.  This offer ends October 31, 2015.  All of the images were free, so no subscription or particular cartridge is required.  This file was created in Cricut Design Space and will only work with a Cricut Explore.  If you have any other machine, I would be happy to share my dimensions with you so that you can create your own file, also with any size purchase through October 31, 2015.  Be sure to include your email during the order process, I will be able to send you your file.  If you don't here from me, use the contact form here and send me another message.

So be sure to shop with me, to get your free file.

During the month of October we have a great Stamp of the Month just in time for those Christmas projects.  The cutouts coordinate with the Artiste Collection.

Mojo417

Hi Everyone,

It's time for Mojo Monday, here is my entry for this week, Mojo417.  I am stock piling my Christmas cards.

I am sure I am late getting this, but I saw some one using an Embossing Powder called Kaleidoscope.  I couldn't seem to find it anywhere, but I did find Holographic, I figured it had to be close.  I must say I fell in love with it.  It adds sparkle and an iridescent look to your die cuts. I tried to get it to show up in the photos, but just can't make it work, but it really does add a sparkle.

I used the tiny little stars that are part of the SOTM, see them next to the sentiment "Peace".

and stamped them all over my back layer with Versamark and then embossed them with the Holographic embossing powder.   I also covered the holly leaves completely and adding this embossing powder.  You can see on the green, it doesn't really change the color, just makes it look iridescent.  It is really pretty on white and colonial white.

I'm thinking those circle of stars may be a perfect candidate for embossing on plain paper to add a shiny design.  The holly berries I minced with red glitter paper from Anna Griffin.  I originally foiled the leaves, but the color was off for this card, so I had to re-think that.

My candles are just strips of paper that I put through my crimper, they are all less than an inch.  This is a smaller card, 3.5x5.5”.  I found the flames on another candle image in Design Space, just search on candles. The green candle was stamped with a stripe and gold embossed.
