Birthday Wishes with Cricut Explore

Hi everyone,

AUGUST promotions end today at midnight!!

Be sure to get your August Stamp of the Month and the free products available in our "Get Organized" campaign.

Be sure to get yours here!

Now to my card.  I love browsing Pinterest and trying to create cards from all the great work other crafters have shared.  Most of the cards I really like are usually created using punches or just simple cut outs.

This card was from one of those inspirations.  I liked it so much I made a feminine and masculine version.

This particular card opens at the top cut it could also open from the side.  The candles were cut from an image available in Design space.    The candles were cut from white yardstick and stamped with CTMH Slate ink using CTMH Stamp Sets #D1540 In the Background and Washi Wonders (Hostess set-retired).

A simple banner, scalloped rectangle and a little welding and you have a card that can be put together in minutes.  The birthday sentiment was created with Art Philosophy Font, but any font would do.  Just isolate your letters and weld them together,   so it cuts in one piece.  You could even use a font with a shadow, I might try that next.   Very simple and easy to make, once you create the word.

You can recreate any card you see in Pinterest, with a little imagination and a Cricut Explore.  It won't be exact, but it will be yours, and that truly makes it one of a kind.

Be sure to shop with me, and get perfect coordinating paper and embellishments.

Until next time

Happy Craftin!

Hi Everyone!

I had some scraps left over after making my 4 scrapbook pages from my #ZoeWOTG kit.  I still have two more pages to make, that will be a total of six pages and some paper left over for cards.  That makes our Workshops on the Go kits a great value,  especially if you like the stamp that is exclusive to the kit.

CTMH Exclusive ink in Sorbet and Slate
SOTM "Framed"
Pirouette Stamp #B1409

Glitter Washi Tape in Blue
Brushed assortments (Retiring September 1)

Only a few days left for our August promotions.

Don't forget the new Cricut Collection Artistry.

Happy 70th Birthday

Hi everyone!

Here is a quick and easy birthday card for those milestone birthdays or if you just want to add the age.

This design was inspired by a Mojo Monday sketch.  I missed the deadline to enter it in the challenge, but thought it was still worth passing along.

If you are at a slump at how to create a card, check out the sketches available on the internet.  I have found them to be extremely helpful.  I sometimes create a card that I would not have thought of otherwise.

I also like to use color challenges, it helps to bring colors together I would not normally use.

There isn't much to explain on this card, it is very simple.  Since it was for a man, I went with manly colors.  I had a few pieces of some card stock from the CTMH Babycakes package in my stash.  It was meant for baby cards and layouts, but since it was simple dots and boyish colors I used it for my color scheme.

I used CTMH card stock in the the following colors:

Cocoa
Buttercup
Sunset

It is hard to tell, but I did add just a hint of bling with the glitter wash tape.  I added some Glossy Accents on my stars to make them shiny, and of course, just a hint of embossing with a Honeycomb embossing folder from CTMH.

If you have trouble coordinating your cards check out the paper packs that are available at CTMH.  There are also coordinating inks, embellishments and ribbon.  If you view the catalog on-line, it tells you all the recommended color combinations that will work with each pack.

Receive a special Stamp of the Month for $5, with a $50 order, a $17.95 value, that's a $12.95 savings.

Here is what is available for August,

Don't forget the new Cricut Collection Artistry.

Please check back now and again to see my next project.

Until then,

Happy Craftin!

Hi Everyone,

Today's card show cases the Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month, Framed (#S1508) in this weeks Mojo Monday sketch, #MOJO411.

I am trying to use up all of my old scraps, so I pulled out a a retired card stock from Close to My Heart "Laughing Lola".  I added a piece of Flaxen to the mix, I think it goes pretty well.

Here is what the stamp set looks like.  I added the image numbers and the size to cut them.  Here is my Design Space file, I included center images.  I created these for a layering look.

Recipe Scrap Book Pages

I have started my Recipe Scrap book.  I debated over the size of my pages, and decided to use 8x8, this will allow me to use pre-made page protectors and make my own cover.  It also allows my to put may recipes on a 4x6 size card.

My first page is my favorite cookie recipe.  This was given to me years ago by a co-worker.  It has always been my go to recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies.  I did cut the recipe in half over the years, since I don't have a large family and of course they are not chocoholics, like me.  It has oatmeal, nuts and lots of chocolate chips.  I sometimes use a combination of dark and milk chocolate.

As you can see, I used "Cookie Monster", I have the Sesame Street cartridge, so why not.  I just love the way it came out.  I took this picture before I added the eyes, I didn't notice they were missing.  But I added wiggly eyes.

Stay tuned for more recipe pages.

Adorable Giraffe card with Cricut Explore

I saw this adorable card on Pinterest. It was created by a fellow crafter with punches.  One thing I realized I could do with my Cricut Explore is re-create those adorable images without purchasing more punches.  I reserve my funds for things I can't do with my Explore, like embossing and stamping, oh and of course stock piling those beautiful papers.

I searched Design Space for a giraffe and found this cute little giraffe image on a purchased cartridge, Creative Memories Stork's Delivery.

I didn't take a picture, but on the screen shot below you can see how I made the image for the inside of the card.

With the slice and align features it is so easy to make your own images.  I used the Slice feature to create the neck of the giraffe on the inside of the card.  In this case, I found an image of the St Louis arch, it came up when I did a search on arch.  I duplicated the sliced image and then sliced circles into the top layer.

Don't be afraid to try using these features. You can always delete and start over.  I would suggest making duplicates of all your images as you go along.  Once you save you can't undo some of your changes.  Check out all the great videos available on you tube if you need to see it done.

The font is Disney's Mickey Font.

You are limited with this amazing machine by only your imagination.

Just remember, Imagine It! Create it!  In this case, see it on Pinterest and make your own version.

Till next week,
Happy Craftin!

Simply Elegant Anna Griffin Birthday Card

Hi everyone!

I created a very simple birthday card from my Anna Griffin products.  This card was inspired by the Mojo Monday #409 weekly challenge.  This is the first time I took a challenge sketch and went a different way with it.  The sketch is for inspiration, and I did start with the original sketch, I just decided to use it in an entirely new direction.

I love all things Anna, except those really busy bulky cards.  I am more of a simple kind of gal,  so I thought it was time to show that Anna's images can create simple and elegant cards.

I used the background die from the Cut and Emboss Butterfly Collection.  If you don't have the dies, this image is also available on the "Elegant Embellishments" cartridge, search on Square doily, it's image #9019D.  The label is also from this cartridge, Tag #M90291, sized at 4.5".

The rose image is sized at 2.4",  it is from the "Soiree Lettering Cartridge.  I added a little detail with my CTMH alcohol markers and Wink of Stella in clear.

The stamped sentiment is CTMH Cursive Birthday #B1419.  The paper is  Anna Griffin's Perfect Palette Card stock.  The flourish and gems are from Hobby Lobby.

I really need to start using more of my Anna Griffith images.  If you have one of the  Cricut Explore machines you no longer need to be intimidated by Anna's creations.  They cut beautifully on the Explore.

Till next time
Happy Craftin!

Simply Elegant Monogrammed Tissue Box Cover

I love having tissue box covers that I can toss when I am tired of looking at them. Thanks to the talented and generous fellow crafter Narelle Darley, they are so easy to make.  She has the file available for Design a Space and Cricut Craft Room.

This time I made them for gifts. I made all the cuts in Design Space.  I layered a quatrefoil background (Theresa Collins - Basics) cover the 1st layer. I created a square frame using the slice feature on 2 squares.  I then welded this square to the background image to give it a nice edge all the way around.

I thought I had a better picture, you can't see it, but I changed the tissue hole on the cover.  I am showing a snapshot of my file so you can see what I mean.

All you have to do is insert an square image and size it at 4.25" or 4", depending on the number of layers. Here I used a label image found on the CTMH Philosophy cartridge.

Place your cut out on your square, and center it with the new align feature.  Then all you have to do is slice.  Wallah! Done.  Just make sure the cut out is smaller than the oval on the cover.  I made my cut out on the top the same as the label I used on the sides. I think it gave it some continuity.

This box is so easy to put together, and only takes about 3 sheets of card stock.  Just be sure to check out Narelle's instructions. Then you won't be placing the layers incorrectly like I did.  There are also videos by numerous folks out there, some have used the same file or an svg.

I recommend adhering the top to the box, if you don't, every time you pull a tissue the top may come off.

Supplies used:
Cardstock by CTMH : Colonial white - 3 sheets
                                     Crystal Blue - 1 seet
                                     Desert Sand - 2 sheets
Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive
CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge
Theresa Collins-Basic (or subscription)

These covers are so easy to make I plan on making some covers for the holidays next.

Till next week,

Happy Craftin
