Boots & Bling - Color Dare #111

I created a 2 page layout for my niece's new Cowgirl obsession.  She went to a rodeo and now she wants everything cowboy.

I used the colors in this weeks Color My Heart challenge,

Color Dare #111 - Cranberry, Sorbet, Olive, Lagoon, & Pacifica

I found this challenge a little more difficult than the last one I did, mostly because there is not one paper pack that includes all these colors.

I decided to use one of last year's paper packs, Jubilee.  The colors are similar and it has that western feel.  The papers reminded me of bandannas.

All of the images are from the "Old West" cartridge.  I used Soiree Olivia Fancy (Boots) and a system font (bling).  The Cowgirl title was stamped using the Circus Alphabet, it was a Stamp of the Month in July 2014.

I colored Cowgirl with my Close to My Heart markers, in Sorbet and Lagoon,  and I also added color to my Clear Sparkle Gems.   I now only buy clear or white embellishments, I use my alcohol markers to add color to match all my projects.  The new ShinHan Touch Twin markers are a great addition to your craft room.  I did use the "Sap Green" marker to add dimension to my cactus.

When I add the pictures, one of the small squares will be used for journaling.  If we don't have enough pictures, which is unlikely with my niece, I'll add a pair of blinded out boots.

Try creating something with this color scheme, I would love to see pictures of how everyone incorporates all these colors.

Don't forget the new Close to My Heart cartridge "Artfully Sent" is available.  It has tons of cards on it and you can get it here!

It's time to stock up on your Christmas paper, we have two packs to choose from.  Yuletide Carol, which is great for those snow and winter scrapbook layouts and Snowhaven for those Christmas cards and layouts.

Till next time.

Confetti Wishes - Color Dare #109

Let’s Celebrate!

"UPDATE"  The results are in, I came in 1st place for this great Party in a Box Card.  WooHoo!

I wanted to enter more challenges, and I found a great one from my participation in the CTMH Obsessed Scrapper blog hop.  One of the ladies that participated is a guest designer for the Color My Heart Color Dare.  I decided I would do a project for these dares, if only to push my imagination into using new colors.

This is Color Dare #109, the colors are Canary, Thistle, Pacific, Pear, Crystal Blue, and Lagoon.
(picture)

This color scheme is a perfect fit for our paper pack “Confetti Wishes”. (LINK)  I confess, I cheated a little by using the paper pack, but I think it added a lot of color and made my card look like the celebration it was created for.  Plus I am trying to see how many projects I can get out of one pack of paper.

I started with the Party Box SVG file I purchased from SVGcuts .  This is one of the cards in their Summer Box Card file.

The card is cut with Canary card stock, the outside panels are Lagoon, which I used from the Paper pack “Free to be Me” (no longer available).  They have a shiny texture to them, which yu can’t see in the picture.   I cut out the panel flaps out of one of the BT Duos papers from Confetti Wishes.  I used one side for the top of the flap and flipped it over to use the other side and on the bottom of the flap.

I wanted festive balloons so I made them all different.  Some are from both sides of the BT Duos paper in Confetti Wishes and some are stamped. I used “Bodacious Banner Stamp” set to add the a polk-a-dot pattern to the balloons, which I stamped in Lagoon and Pear.  I also stamped the cake with the same banner stamp in Pear, Lagoon and Thistle.  I used my Cuttlebug to cut a scalloped square, trimmed off the edges to make the tiny scalloped icing on the cake layers, and of course used yellow Stickles for some bling.

I added a candle to the cake, which I got from Creative Memories, "Stork Arrival".  I cut it at 1” H, this cartridge is not part of the subscription.   I stamped the candle with one of my “Washi tape” stamps I got as a previous hostess gift, added yellow Stickles to the flame.  I think it made the cake more like a birthday cake, it seemed so plain without it.

I wrote the sentiment using a system font, since I don’t have a stamp with this sentiment.  I also added the little sentiments from the edge piece on one of the papers in the “Confetti Wishes” paper.  The Happy Birthday was fussy cut from the BT Duos paper also.

I am really pleased how it came out overall, I think it is truly festive and can’t wait to give it to that lucky person.

CTMH Obsessed Scrapper's Blog Hop

Welcome to my first blog hop.

This month's challenge is to create whatever we wish using Sketch #104 from  Cardbilities.blogspot.com, take a moment to check out the sketch we used for inspiration.

The only rule is to use 75% Close to My Heart products.

I choose the Snowhaven paper for my creation.

Snowhaven Paper pack at CTMH

My theme is "Let It Snow".  My thoughts went directly to snowflakes, and the color scheme of this paper is so "Frozen".

Cartridges Used:
Winter Lace
Edge to Edge

Products used:
CTMH Exclusive Ink Stamp Pad in Glacier and  Cranberry.
Clear gem flourishes (purchased from Michaels)
Glitter

You can get Glacier by the pack or in the Whimsy Combo pack.

Start with a 4.5 x 5.5 inch card, or 9x11 piece of card stock and fold in half.

First layer is Glacier cut to 4.25 x 5.25 and edged with Glacier ink.

Second layer is White Daisy embossed with the Anna Griffith embossing folder Snow Flurry.

The focal point is the Circle Lace Doily.  Using my intricate setting it cut out great.  The center circle is about 1.9"

Here are the images I used and the cut sizes.

Add the Red shimmer trim, to the white layer, then center your doily on top of that.

Edge your small circle with the Cranberry  ink, place it in the center of the doily.

Next layer your sentiment.  I didn't show the image for my sentiment, but any shape will do. The sentiment was printed with my Explore using Splendid Soiree "Grace" font, in writing style.

Place your snowflakes how you like them, I decided to add glitter to mine for the sparkle.  The glitter doesn't show very good in the photo, and the blue really does work.  I'm not the greatest photographer in the world.

Just for kicks, I had an easel card ready to go that needed embellishing, so I decided to try this design on it too.  Here it is, the paper is Close to My Heart Confetti Wishes.

Thank you for hopping to my blog, I hope you enjoyed my version of this challenge.  Taking on challenges has really helped my creativity, why don't you give it a try.  I would love to see your creation.

Next on our hop is SusieL, hop on over and see her creation.

Here is a list of the other participants.  Please check out their blogs if you haven't already.

Easel Post it Note Pad holder

I had a few requests on how to fold the easel post it note pad holder.  It is very simple, you fold it the same way as you would an easel card.  I am showing you a front and side view.

Lay your base (red) down in front of you, with the longest section towards you, the same way it is on the mat.  This is the 4.25" section, you start with a valley fold, then a mountain fold and then another valley fold.

This last fold you add double sided tape to the back to tape it to the easel portion.  The front pieces you see are attached to the easel portion or the 3-1/2" section.  The green pieces are the designer paper, optional on the bottom under the pad.

I added the two back pieces, only if I desire to cover the back.  I had used a print paper that didn't have a design on back, so I just added these pieces to give it a finished look.  The paper was black with a white back.  If it had been black front and back I wouldn't have bothered.

I hope these pictures and instructions help.  If not please check the web for videos, there are numerous videos on creating easel cards and the method it exactly the same.

Thanks for enjoying my project.
